Fabulous hotel, very clean rooms but main thing for us is the valet parking. My husband and I visit Dubai a few times a year and stay at a different hotel on the palm each time we visit. We hire cars each time for our entire stay from Kings Car Rental which is dropped off at the airport on our arrival. We drove to Sofitel The Palm to check in, pulled up outside and usually at the previous hotels we have stayed at as soon as a car comes through the hotel entrance multiple members of staff come up to the car, open the doors, greet you, ask if you are checking in, do you have any luggage?, give you a valet parking card and take the car. This did not happen, we pulled up outside the entrance door, there was no other cars there, at least 5 staff members outside doing absolutely nothing, just looking at us, nobody came over, nothing. We were very confused as this is not the service we are used to in other hotels in Dubai, we found a space and parked up and got out the car, the staff still doing nothing just looking at us, we opened the boot thinking they will see our luggage and realise we are checking in and will help us, nope, still nothing. One member of staff actually stood there and watched us struggle getting our luggage out the car and continued to watch as we wheeled our cases right up to the entrance doors to the lobby and then ran over and asked if we needed help with our luggage once we had done all the work ourselves as he watched us. After a few days of awful valet parking service we complained to a member of staff at reception about it, another member of staff overheard our complaint and came up to us straight away to sort it out. His name is Salman, what can I say, from that moment on he was absolutely amazing! So friendly, so helpful, so polite and so accommodating. Each time we arrived at the hotel he would come running over, open our doors, greet us, ask about our day and organise our valet parking. He always went above and beyond for us, he really works hard and takes pride in what he does. His attention to detail is impeccable. He always remembered our names which I feel makes it a personal, more 1-2-1 special stay. Salman also gave us a beautiful Christmas card and a box of chocolates each which again is a more personal and special experience and very kind of him. Salman really did make our whole stay at Sofitel The Palm perfect and we actually want to return to Sofitel because of him and to see him again of course as he is so lovely. My main purpose of writing this review is for Salmans hard work to be recognised and for him to be rewarded for it as he is the ONLY member of staff actually doing something outside which I believe is very important as that is the first impression you get when arriving at any hotel. Salman also helped us with our key card as one day it wasn t working and we couldn t get into our room. Salman really did take on any role and just adapted to it straight away and did everything possible to accommodate us no matter what the issue was. Salman also pre booked us a taxi to take us to the airport for our return home, he really couldn t do enough for us. Salman is also the only member of staff that had the biggest most positive impact on our whole stay. In my opinion Salman should be in charge of the valet parking/bell boys as is seems he is alert to everything going on and doing everything on his own anyway! Salman is always on the ball, I have never seen him standing around doing nothing, he is always on the go, greeting guests and doing his job unlike the others. So Thankyou Salman for making our stay a memorable one and for being so helpful and hard working, you truly are amazing and we hope your hard work and commitment to your job is recognised.
