Froyo in the Twin Cities. I haven't tried many here, but this is one of the few I've tried here in the cities.
Menchie's apparently originated from California, which I did not know, despite being a native Californian.. I guess I never ran across one when I lived there.
So I came here to treat my 2 good friends to Ice Cream/Izzy's after losing a bet while bowling. I wanted to take them to Izzy's, but unfortunately, they closed by the time we finished our bowling game. I ended up Yelping somewhere close by that was open and the only option was Menchie's.
Menchie's is very similar to Yoghurtland, which is quite popular in California, but not really seen out there. They have 10+ different yoghurt flavors and bunch of toppings like nuts, gummy bears, m&m, and more that you can add. You'll concoct what you want and then pay by weight. This place is a cheaper than Yogurt Lab, which is right next to the U of M. Yogurt Lab is so overpriced and I would not go back there again for Yogurt...
Anyhow, the options at Menchie's is pretty good and good topping options as well. It's a typical yogurt place that you would find in California. Pricing is cheaper than YogurtLab, but still more than what you pay in California. I don't quite remember how much it cost, but it was significantly less than Yogurt Lab. The yogurt was decent, though I'm not a big froyo fan. I'd choose ice cream or gelato over froyo anyday. Toppings were fresh, didn't taste stale at all.
If you're a Froyo fan, definitely come check this place out. I'd probably wouldn't come back since I'm not a huge Froyo fan, but if I had to choose a Froyo place to eat, I'd choose here.
