I got food poisoning at the Vivre restaurant at the Sofitel London Heathrow -- confirmed by a doctor's written visit notes. We were unable to depart that morning for the United States since I was violently ill, and we were forced to stay an extra night. My husband asked if they would comp us the room stay since I got sick from a salad at their restaurant. Three different hotel managers he talked to -- the restaurant manager, the day manager, and one above the day manager -- said they "were not authorized," and offered only a 30% discount on the room rate. We said that was unacceptable. We have now paid over 600 USD out of pocket because of a bad salad for the extra night, doctor's visit, and medications. We will never stay at this property again, nor we will recommend it, not primarily because of the food poisoning, but mostly because of the way we were treated by staff. They questioned the veracity of our account, and I felt very offended, on top of being ill and in pain. To me, the managers at the Sofitel London Heathrow seemed as if they didn't care if we ever came back again. Needless to say, I won't be staying there again.
