Nikhil Nayak Review of ITC HOTEL THE KAKATIYA

We went to the Deccan Pavillion for an early dinner yesterday and came away with a really good impression. It has been a while since we last visited and we left wondering why we haven't eaten here more often. The service and ambiance was top notch and we would be happy to visit again.
We arrived at the hotel around 6:30 pm looking to try out the K&K restaurant but were informed that they open from 7:30 pm onwards. That left us with Deccan Pavillion as the only option. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted enthusiastically by the hotel staff. Being early we were one of only few people at the restaurant. Dinner buffet was also not available until 7:30 pm. On being seated we ordered a light a la carte meal - Vegetable Pakoras for starters and the Kachi Ghosht Biriyain for main course.
Service was impeccable as we were served a papad basket while we waited. These were prepared perfectly without excess oil and light in color. Not overdone. We were informed that our biriyani would take 20 mins so we decided to ask for the vegetable pakoras. These were served with a delicious mint chutney that was perfectly prepared. The prep work at Deccan Pavillion is impeccable to say the least.
On cue the Biriyani was served piping hot in a earthenware pot. Plenty of meat for both my wife and myself with the meat just falling off the bone. Portions were not large and will probably not be enough for a single person with a healthy appetite. The biriyani was served with a groundnut chutney and raitha. Again the chutney was delicious and was a perfect accompaniment to the biriyani.
Our meal for two came to approx Rs 2,200 incl taxes. We absolutely enjoyed the experience and highly recommend Deccan Pavillion to anyone looking for a great meal. We showed up at an odd time when the kitchen was probably not yet ready for the evening. They still delivered an experience that was top notch and worthy of a recommendation.
