I received a pre-approval from Capital One and used their buying service to select a vehicle which happened to be at Schomp BMW. I called the dealership to complete the remaining steps. Nick Majka answered the phone and said the 3 series I wanted to purchase was still in stock. He said that a rabbit or some animal chewed through the wiring and the check engine light was on. He said he took the car to service. I'm very particular about allowing my credit to be pulled. I've had one credit inquiry in the past 2 years and didn't want it pulled multiple times and explained to Nick that I only wanted to use Capital One's pre-approval and to not send my application anywhere else. I told him I wanted to purchase the vehicle and he told me to complete their credit application on their website and that he needed a $1000 deposit. I told him no problem and completed the application on their website and gave him my credit card for the deposit. He told me he needed me to complete a form for the deposit and he would email it to me. When I received the form it said "NON REFUNDABLE" deposit. This was a car I've never seen and Nick just told me that it had to be put in service due to chewing problems on wires. There was no way I was going to do a non refundable deposit. Nick told me that if someone else came and bought the car or put a deposit, I would lose the car. He followed up with me on Saturday evening and told me the car was still in service and that he would get back to me on Tuesday. Well, it's Tuesday and he just emailed me saying someone else put a deposit on the car Saturday night. He didn't even offer other vehicle options. Pure lazy. Now I've got an extra credit inquiry from Schomp on my file and no car.
