Emily Johnson Review of Susan Dicks & Co.
We found Susan from a recommendation from a friend...
We found Susan from a recommendation from a friend, but unfortunately had a terrible experience. I brought my wedding dress in for alterations in May, and scheduled to pick it up at the end of June. Unfortunately, when I arrived for my appointment, she had no idea where my dress was. When she found it, it had not been touched since I dropped it off. She finished the alterations for me the following week, but they were very poorly done. The hem was jagged and unfinished, the bust was gaping at the sides while the waist was too tight. The straps were too loose and there were holes in the train (which was supposed to be shortened). She had moved up the waist line and also shortened the hem, but in measuring them at the same time the result was that the length at the front was now too short - which could not be undone. I bought new shoes (flats) and took the dress to another seamstress to have it fixed, which cost me twice as much. The other seamstress confirmed that the poorly fit bust - which Susan had told me was the best they could get it - was in fact very fixable. After shelling out a lot more money, it was fixed by the other seamstress perfectly. But this was all within weeks of my wedding and very rushed. What a nightmare! Susan was not responsive to emails from me, and was very short in response to inquiries from my mother regarding the errors. An absolute nightmare.
