In the last 45 years I have arrived or flown several times to the various airports in Beijing. Even the 'ancient' airport in the 1970s was more effective and clearer than the current one. Freezing cold in winter, greenhouse in summer. The processing of immigration is very slow. But I have had positive experiences a few times. Especially when younger female officials sit behind the Plexiglas panes. Even with short visas (48 or 72 hours) there were different waiting times. I currently feel the health checks are not effective. In my opinion, samples are not sufficient. Linguistic communication (English) is also sometimes very, very poor. I personally benefited from my Chinese language skills. The countless shops close very early in some cases. This is a problem especially for those travelers who want to fly west> Europe. Currency Exchange? Just not here! Fees up to 20%! Transport to the center about 30 km away> e.g. Tian Men Sqare best and cheapest by bus. Alternatively with the U-Tube. Taxis sometimes outrageously expensive despite the taximeter. Disadvantage: Especially in rush hour, which is almost 24 hours, very long queues. My conclusion: All in all, not an airport that does justice to a metropolis of this size. The Shanghai Pudong is even better positioned there. And in my eyes the stay is like a nightmare. Note: Unfortunately I have not yet got to know the new Giga-Airport Daxing personally. But that will happen in the coming month.
