The first part of the museum does not have A/C so it can get pretty hot. The museum shows great history into how the NYC transit system was built. Once you go further, there is A/C. There's large scale buses your kids can sit in and play around. Go downstairs and see vintage trains. No A/C but they do have large fans running.
