Extremely unprofessional. As it was my sons birthday, I called 10 days prior and booked a table for 8 for Saturday lunch at 12.30 pm and specifically requested that the table be alongside the window as it was a special occasion. The female staff member who took the booking assured me this would be all ok. The day before the booking, I called to re-confirm and spoke to "Lisa" who advised me that they had the booking but nothing about being at the window - I explained that I had booked 10 days prior and requested the window booking and she told me she would make a note in their register and it would all be set up fine for the next day for lunch. Our group arrived at the Bistro and a young lady ticked our names off in the book and took us to a table for 8 which was NOT at the window and was directly outside the path from the kitchen. When I pointed out that this was not what I had booked, she rather dismissively told me that she doesn't have anything to do with the seating and I would have to see the Manager, Joel ? or Josh? I went back to the Bistro check in and spoke to Joel/Josh and told him that I was not happy as I had booked and re-confirmed and still had not got the seating I requested. His reply was he would see what he could do and to take a seat in the meantime. We went and sat down at our "lovely" kitchenside table and waited and nobody came back to me so I again went up to the Bistro check in and asked Joel/Josh what he had arranged and he pointed up in a corner and said he was waiting on another table of people to vacate so that we could have their table !! I pointed to a table set for about 10 people by the window that was vacant and asked him why we couldn't sit there and he replied "oh no, that is reserved" !! I told him they were lucky customers that they were getting a table that they had reserved and I suspect that the table I had booked was given to somebody else even though I was there for my 12.30 pm booking. He really couldn't give me an answer and was more interested in getting the line up of prospective customers seated than sorting out their error in our booking. I went back and sat down and about 20 minutes later he appeared and told me that he had a window table for us over the other side. By this time, we were so unimpressed with what had happened that I told him not to bother as it was too late and he disappeared with a relieved look on his face. Will not be going back there again for a meal because aside from the stuff up with the booking, there are far better places to eat at the coast for the prices they charge. Getting a drink was a nightmare as there were queues at the bar with bar staff serving people who jumped the queue and the food was mediocre and expensive for what it was and let's not get started on the lack of parking !! Do yourself a favour and eat elsewhere for a cheaper price and hopefully with good service.
