I see a couple people here complaining about the detox, which I didn t do myself but from what I heard it s pretty standard detox for any rehab. If something goes wrong with the medications/timing/etc. it s typically on the end of the patient not being honest about something. Don t walk in the doors thinking they re just gonna drug you up and give you the spa treatment. Also, don t think because it s your first time you re gonna get special treatment and not put with the rebar heroine addicts . It s a rehab, and you re an addict too.

Anyway, my 3 star review is for the rehab stay, which I was there for long term for. Most of the staff was great and honestly if it weren t for them working in my favor this review might be lower. I was sent to the Arnstein unit my first day, which is basically a run down trailer annexed from the main campus to hide all the people coming from jail or problem patients. The overall attitude in the community was that of a work release dorm and prison lingo was frequent. This kinda added a big damper to the stay. There was only one staff member I had issues with, and the rest at least tried to make my experience comfortable and many felt sympathy for us being stuck in Arnstein. The social worker worked wonders for me and did things behind the curtain in my favor that I was unaware of. She went out of her way to shorten my stay when I said I was ready to leave and made sure everything with aftercare was ready to go. The nursing staff was great as well in my opinion, even though some others didn t seem to agree. Everything was timely, assuming the higher-ups staffed it properly.

Which is another thing I want to bring up. The staff is commonly left short handed with only one nurse and one tech, many times only one or the other and left with 30 male addicts. They can only do so much sometimes. With the pandemic we were mostly confined to the Arnstein building and when we tried to go to groups up at the main campus they d cancel because nobody could drive us to it. That combined with the lack of groups on the unit lead to pretty uneventful days and lots of tensions built up.

Still, I ll give it a 3 because as I said the staff was awesome and the food was actually decent for a rehab. I figure it probably is pretty normal when not during a pandemic but even so, people need the help so they shouldn t be left short.
