Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves are brilliant, we took our 6 year old son, and he enjoyed it as much as we did.

Ollie was our Tour Guide and I must say, his guided tour was informative, friendly and lots of fun, he had the right mix of information, crowd participation and humour, engaging both adults and children.

The tour was about an hour long and full of amazing facts and stories, giving us detailed insight into the history of the caves. The caves themselves were intriguing, some very interesting winding paths and some wonderful cavernous rooms with fantastic rock formations and we all found the experience to be excellent.

We had lunch at the cafe (very reasonably priced) and the food was lovely.

The service from our initial greeting to leaving was first class, we were welcomed by Elliot who had a friendly smile, gave us loads of information and was very polite.

The gift shop had an amazing variety of souvenirs ranging in price from pocket money treasures and upwards from there, not to mention something appropriate for all ages.

There is an indoor activity section for children to draw ancient tribal face painting on 3D sculptures, hand prints on a cave wall, archaeological digging to find prehistoric bones and artefacts, and a toy area with a wooden train set and some drawing.

There is an outdoor walk which "we will be back" for, weather permitting.

There were a few toddlers on our Tour that got upset when the lights went out, so I would hesitate if you have a little one who is scared of the dark, but other then that I would say from about 5 years and up would be the perfect age to suit the length of the tour and understand the information being conveyed.

I would highly recommend the Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves as an enjoyable experience and something for all ages, in fact our son enjoyed it so much he has asked to have his birthday party here. We found the facilities to be excellent, service excellent, and many things to do for all ages and abilities.
