Less of a line/wait than Top of the Rock. Better experience too. There's this online offer called citypass for sightseeing in NYC. There are two options: the normal citypass, which is more expensive, but gets you into 6 attractions or the C3 pass which let's you choose any 3 attractions for a smaller fee. It gets you to the top of the Empire State and if you have it on your phone when you walk in, they wave you passed the ticket booth inside, skipping part of the line. The elevator has a cool video for while you're going up to the top. There are two levels and then a second elevator offered before you head back down that takes you up to the spire at the very top. Really cool experience for first timers.
