I simply don't understand who these people are giving negative reviews? Yes, something like chili preference is subjective but that having been said, if you take the time to enjoy the Chili John's experience, it is undeniable.

I personally had never heard of chili served over spaghetti and that became one of my favorite orders. I even became friends with the late owner and his family. I was pleased that the family continued to operate the restaurant with such authenticity and integrity even after his passing.

I moved away from California in 2012 but I miss it terribly and sometimes have a friend mail a quart across the country. So Worth It!

Just go back, ask what they recommend and let the staff do what they do. I have the mild beef (sometimes over spaghetti) with oyster crackers and a Coke, and follow it up with a slice of lemon cream pie. You won't regret it.
