The trails and mountain are generally good, but management of the facility and customer service leave something to be desired.

During my first visit to Mountain High (West Resort) in December 2018, I came with a friend who was very new to skiing. I asked the person at the ticket counter to direct us to the chairlifts that lead to beginner trails, and both the attendant and even her mentor/supervisor standing next to her pointed to the Blue Ridge Express, which is definitely not for beginners. Fortunately, we ran into another attendant who was greeting customers outside (and was much more polite and knowledgeable), and she told us to avoid that chairlift. If we had listened to the two staff members at the ticket counter, my friend, who was a beginner skier, could have been put in a dangerous and precarious situation.

On my 2nd visit to Mountain High West Resort, my friend's 1-2-3-Free Season Pass card did not scan at the chairlifts, despite the fact that she took it outside of her jacket and placed it in front of the scanner multiple times, even with the help of the chairlift attendant. My friend had to walk to the ticket counter and ask why it wasn't working. After waiting for about 10-20 minutes, a staff member returned with the pass, and she acted very annoyed and impatient toward my friend, claiming that it works fine. My friend was simply waiting at the counter and hadn't said a word, but the attendant came back irritated, practically reprimanding her, even though my friend was the one who was inconvenienced.

I have skied a few more times at Mountain High after that because the trails were decent and my friend wanted to complete her 1-2-3 pass, and I haven't encountered any other major issues since then. But my first two visits definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.
