I have visited the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church on several occasions over the years. I highly recommend everyone take the opportunity to visit this site should you be in the Atlanta area. There is no cost of entry or to park; I have always been able to find a parking spot close by.
On one occasion we were able to sit in on a live presentation by one of the Park Rangers who attended Ebenezer Baptist at the same time as Dr King. This was, by far, our most memorable visit. On our most recent visit, however, the ranger informed us that such presentations no longer take place.
It is incredibly inspirational to be in the very church where Dr Martin Luther King, Jr grew up and preached. Dr King s message of unity and peace is clearly demonstrated in the church and park on the same grounds.
The only criticism I have is I have encountered several other visitors who have been much less than friendly. It seems Dr King s message of love and acceptance are not necessarily ascribed to by everyone who visits.
All said, this site is a MUST VISIT!
