I filed for reimbursement for an emergency femoral artery transplant in 2008, and was denied due to not having a prior authorization. I spent $10,000 out of pocket. How are you supposed to get prior authorization at 6pm and your leg has 15 minutes left to live before being amputated without an arterial transplant? It doesn't make much sense to tell us to get emergency care if it's needed immediately, and then deny their claim because they listened
