I landed a wonderful fellowship and cardiovascular engineering lab research opportunity in my freshmen year alone. I recommend joining the engineering school just because there is room for lab participation, but do not expect great academic standards from ANY of your classes. Although I had a great freshman year, the university can do a much better job working in the interests of the students, not just its financial gains.
