Royal Gallery Mauritshuis (Mauritshuis, literally the house of Moritz) - art gallery.
Right behind the Binnenhof at the palace pond is the Mauritshuis Palace. It was built in 1633 1644. Count Johann Maurits of Nassau, Governor of Brazil. The building is designed in a classic style, which emphasizes the vertical division of the facade by pilasters and a triangular pediment. The palace houses the Royal Cabinet of paintings, one of the most magnificent museums in The Hague. The restored luxurious halls create an excellent backdrop for a collection of paintings, mainly by Dutch masters of the 17th 19th centuries. The collection includes the works of Rembrandt, Jan Vermer, Rubens, Jacob van Reusdal, Brueghel and Rogier van der Weyden.
