We wanted to provide a convenient/easier method for people to find items on Craigslist. Originally, we had been using this alert engine to find contract gigs for software and system development, and other jobs that were of interest to us. We noticed that the alerting system was finding listings quickly, and when we responded to a gig or a job, we were usually the first, or one of the first people to respond, which increased the likelihood of landing the project or job.
We felt as though other people could also benefit from this system, so we decided to clean up the web interface a bit, and launch it to the general public as a freemium service.
