YMCA Camp Cheerio

I love this camp so much... Everybody is so nice and I will never forget this amazing experience my memories here are priceless

As a camper I find cheerio so fun!!
There are so many traditions that have been around since they 1st opened in 1960!
All my counselors are so nice and friendly.
And everybody is so warm and welcoming!

Two daughters- nine years apart..... The second one loves it just as much as the first. I like the physical size of the camp as well as the number of campers. I've had my children attend extremely large camps where it was difficult to find your buddies, or make it to your next skill with ease while still seeing faces for the very first time after 10-14 days at camp. I've also had them attend camps that were intimate and small, so there was a lack of festivity and excitement in the air. Cheerio fits nicely in the middle. Big, but not too big. Enough campers to find plenty with common interests, but small enough to have familiarity of faces.

Wonderful staff; warm and friendly. Plenty of great role models all around. Comfortable and clean living conditions. Highly recommend.

It was a nice camp with good food and nice counselors. but its not summer camp air conditioner in the cabins food cooked for you, you don't even help clean up after meals. And not that its a bad thing but you shower every night. You don't really develop a special relationship with your counselors. You don't learn everybody's name in your cabin if you are new. its not a place you make friends easily everybody comes already knowing each other.

my home away from home, i disagree with one review, the camp counselors and campers have such a great bond, and u ft to know everyone in the camp so well, i will forever come back to cheerio:)

Incredible. Beautiful camp with tons to do and very nice cabins.

Such a special place. My girls love it and it is the highlight of their Summer.

This is one of the best camps to ever exist. Friendly staff and very caring of the children. They go out of their way to help make sure everyone from child to parent is comfortable and informed.

Camp Cheerio is a second home to me. Camp is where I can find peace and be myself. I can be myself and be free. Ever Summer I leap with joy of coming to camp. On the last day i cry because i am leaving. Then I long for the next time I get to come back and see the beautiful place I call home. Camp has changed my life in so many ways. I have made some of my best friends. I think everybody should go to Camp Cheerio so they can feel the joy I feel every year.

I had the best times at camp!!! You can be yourself and you have so much fun!! I loved the counselors and campers I have made so many friends!!!!! MAKE CARTER SMITH A COUNSELOR!! I absolutely LOVE camp cheerio!!

I have gone to this camp for a few years and I LOVE IT! It's a second home and you have another family there! I enjoy it every year and look forward to going again! I am about to go to 2c in 2 days! ALREADY PACKED!!!

As a Milestone camper at Cheerio, I could not be more thankful for my time here. Cheerio has taught me so much, like how to be myself, and how to care for others before yourself. Everyone there is so amazing. The camp itself is a blast. All of the activities are really fun and the food is awesome, but it's the people that make it so incredibly special. I can't wait to go back next year.

Camp Cheerio is the best camp ever created!!!!! I would give it a million trillion rating if I could! Whenever you are down, you can think about you great memories at Camp Cheerio! This YMCA, Christian, summer camp is the best camp ever! The counselors are amazing, the friends you make are awesome, the food is delicious, well, just about everything there is awesome! Went in the mid 90s with my school (very small alternative school) it was such a memorable experience, Its so nostalgic for me!!

Beautiful sight and weather (this weekend). Check your forecast, I've been told that it is not always like this in May.

Camp Cheerio is and always will be my home. I look forward to it all year and i honestly love it so much. I have met some of my best friends there and made some of the best memories. The activities are great, the counselors and staff are very kind, and the food is delicious. I really recommend this camp!

Take my grandchild to camp. I can't say enough about this program. From the leaders to the counselors. Everyone is there to provide a wonderful time and memories that last a lifetime. Amazing program.

I had so so so much fun there. Your kid will have a lot of fun to and will want to go back over and over. Take your kids to camp Cherrio

OMG i loved camp cheerio. my class and i went canoeing, zip-line , we did some archery and much more. if you get a chance you should go because it was really fun.

I enjoyed my experience in my youth. My recommendation is to research the activities offered and choose wisely.

If you have the means it's an unbelievable place to send your little ones!

camp cheerio is without a doubt my favorite place in the world. i have made so many friendships up on this mountaintop, many that are closer than my friendships back home. the counselors and staff there are literally amazing and they do everything to make your time at cheerio the best it can be. i love everyone at this camp with my whole heart. cheerio truly is a home away from home.

Beat camp EVER. All of our kids love it as campers and have gone on to be counselors. Wonderful, fun character building Christian camp.

Best place ever. Never closer to God or people than I am at Cheerio

It has been the best experience of my life and the friends that you make stay with you your whole cheerio career so you don't have to make new friends every year. The counselors are fantastic, the food is great, and the activities are great. It was and IS awesome!!

I am a camper and have LOVED being at Cheerio. I have no idea what I would do if I didn't go.

We stayed in Milles Lodge and had wonderful accommodations. The food was terrific and there were all kinds of activities to do. The grounds were extremely well maintained. We had a family reunion here. I d definitely recommend this place for anyone!

I remember this from my childhood. I am 51 years old now and I still have fond memories. Canoeing on the lake and jumping on the trampolines behind the gym (I wonder if they are still there). Looking at Stone Mountain over the split rail fence. Good times as a camper and as a CIT (Counselor in Training). Also, I wonder if they have the "radio station" in the upper area of the Lodge. Used to have to play reveille there every morning. LOL

Camp Cheerio is a second home to me. The best part of this beautiful mountaintop is the lifelong friendships you make. I ve met some of the most incredible people at camp. Not only has camp connected me with new friends, but also with Christ. The food is delicious, the activities are awesome, and the overall vibe is amazing. If you re looking for a camp, Cheerio is the place!

I have the pleasure of working here& it is a truly magical place to be!! I love my job, & all the people i meet while here! Not to mention the view of the blue ridge mountains!

My duaghter really enjoys her visit there each year. Some Girls only weeks. Need to plan early especially if you want to be there at the same time as a few home town friends.

Absolutely fantastic kids sleep away camp nestled in the mountains. My daughter loves this place!

First experience in the wilderness it was an amazing weekend

Horrible experience - my daughter was treated terribly and unfairly at this place. I have nothing positive to say about Campcheerio. I felt heartbroken when I saw my daughter limping to me after she came home. Plus the way they handle the food is ludicrous. My daughter was so hungry on top of being hurt. I thought she was away having fun but not so. I wish I could give zero stars.

Not somewhere I'll be sending my kids again, staff (especially the "counselors in training") were inattentive to my children's wellbeing and often were overheard engaging in inappropriate conversations near the campers about drugs and alcohol (according to my youngest daughter who attended the 2 week girls camp).
Not the experience I was looking for overall when choosing YMCA's Camp Cheerio program over other competitive summer camps. However, the campsite is a beautiful outlook to the mountains. If the camp had chosen there staff for camp more selectively maybe choosing counselors with a few more years of age and maturity I believe this could be a great camp.

Camp Cheerio is a second home to me and many others. My experiences there are one of a kind amazing, and I will never forget it. Everyone is very kind, and I have never met an unfriendly face there. Your cabin becomes your second family, and the camp becomes your second home. I am so exited to go again this year!

This is the best camp hands down. From the time you arrive, the organization, professionalism of staff, quality of program , the food, facilities, to the camp director, there no camp that can compare.

I was a camper and counselor in the 70 s, return alum counselor in the 90 s, and now a Sr. Adult and Family camper. My 3 siblings and 12 of our children all have great Cheerio history and this past summer the first of our next generation loved her first session at camp. The WONDERFUL tradition continues!!!!

I participate in Y-Guides with both of my children. We have been to all the area Y camps, this is our favorite. The view is gorgeous. None of our groups can figure out why the food here is so much better than the other camps. It really is head and shoulders above the others. There cabins are clean and modern.

I've been going to the camp for 8 years now and I look forward to it everytime. The councilors are great, the good is amazing, the atmosphere is incredible. Camp Cheerio has really been my second home. It has taught me a lot about myself and my faith!

This place is amazing.. You have to make plans to visit and see it for yourself.
