Writers & Books is a literary center located in Rochester, NY that has been promoting reading and writing as lifelong activities since 1981. The organization was founded by Joe Flaherty, who believed that everyone should have access to the literary arts regardless of their background or education. Today, Writers & Books continues to uphold this mission by offering a wide range of programs and services for writers and readers of all ages.
One of the main goals of Writers & Books is to foster a love for reading among people from all walks of life. The organization achieves this through its extensive library collection, which includes over 30,000 books covering various genres such as fiction, non-fiction, poetry, memoirs and more. Members can borrow books from the library free-of-charge or purchase them at discounted rates.
In addition to its library services, Writers & Books also offers numerous workshops and classes designed to help aspiring writers hone their craft. These workshops cover various topics such as creative writing techniques, publishing tips and marketing strategies. Participants can choose from one-day intensives or multi-week courses depending on their needs.
