This place was hell for children I was there from 2005 to 2007 on the neglect and abuse camp and they treated us like common killers had to ask to use the bathroom and had to ask to get a drink of water. I was doing work in my camp to make money before I left there and the owner never me I left there with no money no clothes and I went to job Corp with nothing but a book bag this place needs to be shut down. I was in the Clarence Fisher Center (drug abuse treatment) from April of 2017, to December of 2016. I love WHS with all my heart. Yes, there have been bad things that happened, but when I was there, they had staff that actually cared about us girls and the staff were hard on us because they cared. I messed up a few times when I got out, but I'm happy with where I'm at in life, and I couldn't have done it without them.
Visited here and was told of different situations where staff slam children and offer kids drugs. Kids get bullied bad here even special needs. The place is prison with less freedom.
21 years ago I was sent to this place but at the time it was called Clarence Fisher leadership academy and it was a military school for young youth boys who were struggling. It was a six-month program and if you could not graduate from C.F.L.A. then you were shipped off to the camps. So much has changed in the last 21-22 yrs. Sounds to me that this place has failed our youth thank God I was there when I was and got the structure, discipline and tools to be a better member of society.
Doing good things for youth in need. Serving a much needed purpose for teens are bordering on going in the wrong direction. It's not the happiest environment but it's necessary to shock them into reality. Wolverine thanks for accepting the challenge.
I came here around 2012. They fed us to much i gained so much weight haha. But thats a good thing they really changed my life. Thank you to everyone I actually had some of my best memories here I met amazing people and staff and my amazing therapist. Ms.Haley
Wow! Can't believe this place never got shut. Staff dealing drugs to kids, choke slamming kids threw bunk beds, staff agreeing to fight kids one on one, letting kids just fight things out, and then food at times could be real low portions if your the last cabin to eat. Out of all the places I been to as an adolescent, i truly am surprised to see this place never got shut down by the state
My roommate works here so I'm a little biased however, the staff seems to take very good care of their charges. The staff takes confidentiality seriously. After working there about a year my roommate does not share names or any information. n.b. I am a trained marriage and family counselor so I understand confidentiality issues. I would keep anything shared confidential due to the nature of my profession however, since my roommate is well trained and cognizant of the importance of keeping private...private, there have been no issues.
Great placement for a young man. They teach respect, manners, & study with computers. They work close with the guys. Mine came home practically a man @ 16.
