The breakfast was worst than a free breakfast at a hostel.
The staff were often distracted and I personally didn't find them very attentive.
You had to request for the hot water to be turned on which is great from an eco perspective but the water was still cold and with the climate being so cold whilst on the island a cold shower was not ideal

This was my first trip to Isla Holbox, and my brother I decided to select Villas Delfines as our resort. It's beautiful... the sand is raked each morning so that early risers will have their footprints made fresh on the grounds. The small patio porch style restaurant is clean, traditionally decorated, and well stocked. There are Paddle boarding, Kayaking, and Bocce Balls available for rent right at the hotel. It is roughly 15 minutes in foot from town along a dirt road. The hotel lies just a minutes' walk from the beach.

Two front desk clerks made our stay particularly easy, Israel, and Juan Jose. They went out of their way on multiple occasions to make sure we felt at home and taken care of. What to do suggestions, where to eat, exchange money, and all around accommodating.

This place is closed! We came there with our suitcases and there was yellow police lines. People there told us that it was closed the day before because of legal issues.... 'Legal issues', duhhhh, pretty vague right? Anyhow, the people there said that it is probably better that is it closed because on the internet it looks good, but in reality not so much.

We now stayed at Xaloc Resort, which is a little paradise with very nice personnel.

I was a bit dissapointed.
Considering the price I was expecting more.
My girlfriend booked the room so I had no idea about the compostable toilets, I didn't mind it , it just felt a little bit weird ... The whole eco initiative was interesting. Even though there were many lamps the room felt very dark.
The pool was pretty but definitely needed cleaning.
The breakfast was decent, more on the plain side( fruit, bread, yogurt, ham and cheese).
Behind the pool the walkways were flooded and the grounds looked really bad ( at least they were temporarily closed ) but still not a pretty sight.

The room had about 3 fans but even at night it got hot so it wasn't the best sleep.
There were mosquitos too , I didn't get bit very badly but my girlfriend did.

On the plus side, the staff was friendly and the location is good, just a few steps from the beach. The nextdoor restaurant, mantarraya had some amazing seafood dishes.
I only stayed there one night and honestly I think it was better that way.
Hopefully management will start working on this issues in order to exploit the potential of this property!
