VFW Post 1 is the first and oldest Veteran of Foreign Wars Post in existence. As an actively engaged veterans organization located in Denver, Colorado, VFW Post 1 has been serving veterans since its inception in 1899. With over a century of experience, VFW Post 1 has become a trusted resource for veterans seeking support, camaraderie, and advocacy.
At VFW Post 1, we are committed to providing our members with the resources they need to thrive after their service. Our mission is to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts; to serve our veterans; to advocate on behalf of all veterans; and to ensure that those who have served our country are respected for their sacrifices.
Our membership includes men and women who have served in every conflict since the Spanish-American War. We are proud to be a diverse group that represents all branches of service and all walks of life. Our members come from different backgrounds but share a common bond: they have all served their country with honor.
As an active member-driven organization, we offer numerous programs designed specifically for our members' needs. These programs include:
- Veterans Assistance Program: This program provides assistance with VA claims processing, medical care coordination, financial assistance referrals, employment services referrals.
- Community Service Program: This program focuses on community outreach activities such as volunteering at local schools or hospitals.
