Umkc enactus is a non-profit organization that aims to empower communities through entrepreneurship. With a head for business and a heart for the world, Umkc enactus lives its values of integrity, passion, innovation, and collaboration. The organization has impacted thousands of people and contributed countless hours towards achieving the UN Global Goals.
Umkc enactus was founded in 2001 by a group of students from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) who were passionate about using their business skills to make a positive impact on society. Since then, the organization has grown into a global network with over 70,000 student members across 37 countries.
The mission of Umkc enactus is to create sustainable solutions that address social and environmental challenges faced by communities around the world. The organization achieves this by partnering with local businesses and organizations to develop innovative projects that promote entrepreneurship, financial literacy, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility.
One of Umkc enactus' flagship projects is Project Bridge. This project aims to bridge the digital divide in underserved communities by providing access to technology and digital literacy training. Through partnerships with local schools and community centers, Project Bridge has impacted over 2,000 people in Kansas City alone.
Another notable project is Project Greenway. This project focuses on promoting sustainable fashion practices by upcycling discarded clothing into new garments. Through partnerships with local thrift stores and fashion designers, Project Greenway has diverted over 10 tons of textile waste from landfills while creating job opportunities for disadvantaged individuals.
Umkc enactus also runs several programs aimed at developing young entrepreneurs. The Youth Entrepreneurship Program provides high school students with mentorship and training in business skills such as marketing, finance, and product development. The Women's Empowerment Program supports female entrepreneurs in developing countries through microfinance loans and business training.
