Triangle Community Foundation: Inspiring Giving, Leadership, and Action for a Thriving Community
Triangle Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the Triangle region of North Carolina since 1983. The foundation's mission is to inspire and mobilize giving, leadership, and action to build a vibrant community where everyone can thrive. With over $200 million in assets under management, Triangle Community Foundation is one of the largest community foundations in the Southeast.
The foundation's work is guided by its core values of equity, collaboration, innovation, stewardship, and impact. These values are reflected in its programs and initiatives that aim to address some of the most pressing issues facing the Triangle community today.
One of Triangle Community Foundation's key programs is its grantmaking program. Through this program, the foundation awards grants to nonprofits working on issues such as education, health care access, affordable housing, economic development, arts and culture preservation among others. The foundation also offers scholarships for students pursuing higher education.
Another important initiative by Triangle Community Foundation is its capacity-building program which provides training and resources for nonprofits to improve their organizational effectiveness so they can better serve their communities.
In addition to these programs focused on nonprofits organizations' support; Triangle Community Foundation also works with individual donors who want to make an impact through philanthropy. The foundation offers donor-advised funds which allow donors to recommend grants from their fund balance while receiving tax benefits for charitable contributions made into it.
Triangle Community Foundation also serves as a convener bringing together stakeholders from across sectors including government officials business leaders non-profit organizations among others; around critical issues affecting our communities such as racial equity climate change social justice among others.
The foundation has been recognized nationally for its innovative approach towards philanthropy including being named one of America’s Top 100 Charities by Worth Magazine in 2019; receiving accreditation from National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations® Program administered by Council on Foundations; being awarded Impact Award at Philanthropy Journal’s annual conference among other accolades.
