TNTP: Partners for Change in Public Education
TNTP is a non-profit organization that partners with school systems to help them achieve their goals for students. The company was founded in 1997 by a group of teachers who were frustrated with the state of public education and wanted to make a difference. Since then, TNTP has worked with over 200 school systems across the United States, helping them improve student outcomes and close achievement gaps.
At TNTP, the focus is on providing practical solutions that work in real-world classrooms. The company's team of experts includes former teachers, principals, and district leaders who have firsthand experience with the challenges facing schools today. They work closely with educators at all levels to develop customized strategies that meet each school system's unique needs.
One of TNTP's core beliefs is that every student deserves an excellent teacher. To this end, the company has developed several programs aimed at recruiting and training high-quality educators. These include:
- Teaching Fellows: A program that recruits talented individuals from diverse backgrounds and trains them to become effective teachers.

When TNTP began working with Camden in 2012, only three percent of students were proficient in math on state tests. By 2018, that number had risen to 22 percent โ still not where it needs to be but a significant improvement nonetheless.
Another example comes from Memphis City Schools in Tennessee. When TNTP began working with Memphis in 2009, only one-third of students were graduating from high school on time. By 2016, that number had risen to nearly 80 percent โ an incredible turnaround made possible by the hard work of educators at all levels.
Overall, what sets TNTP apart is its commitment not just to theory but also practice โ finding solutions that actually work for real-world classrooms rather than just sounding good on paper. With its focus on teacher quality and other key areas such as curriculum development and data analysis,TNPT continues making strides towards improving public education across America.
