Went in there for a couple of pints. Lovely place, beautifully decorated inside and loads of outside area to drink your pint in the sun. Prices about average for this type of place. Does get quite packed in summer with tourists.
Lovely setting and views only had a drink in the garden area but all staff encountered were friendly and helpful. The place was clean and tidy and would recommend.
Fantastic. The most friendliest and helpful staff, couldn't do enough for us. Room clean and comfortable with balcony and beautiful view. Breakfast first class. Highly recommend.
Have always enjoyed the Ness. Living locally, we decided to pop in for a cooked breakfast. We've done this previously and it's been expensive, but very good.
Today however was a different story. After waiting for over 10 minutes to be greeted by someone, a very nice young lady offered to show us to a table bit seemed confused by the fact that we were not residents in the guest rooms.
From here on in, the entire experience was Faulty Towers-like and comically bad.
When it arrived, or order was wrong. But we eat it anyway.
The quality of the food was good. The quality of the service was laughable in every respect and not the experience the Ness is aiming for.
Lovely pub nestled on Shaldon's hilltop with a wonderful view of Teignmouth. Good place to stop for a pint after a hike to the Ness beach. We couldn't get a reservation inside but was able to grab a couple of outside tables. The burgers More
Favourite pub, looks over the water, staff are always very friendly and welcoming. There is a good choice of menus for all dietary types.
Lovely pub, next to River Teign with wonderful views across the estuary to Teignmouth. Only had a drink here. Pub is very clean, with friendly staff. Served very quickly. Drink was good.
Waiters were lovely, very smiley and had a very pleasant experience with a beautiful view!
Lovely space, gardens for children to play, views and good food and drinks!
What a wonderful room with an amazing view. One of those places that ticks all the boxes. Great staff, pleasant location, all the refinements and not stupidly expensive.
Always delivers a high quality meal with great views if the Salty.
As much as the staff tried the whole experience felt unorganised amateur and roast sadly disappointing compared to other eateries in the local would not recommend or be re-visiting.
A classy setting and a beautiful interior. Just a shame they don't serve a flat cider.
Live music, good beer, great views. A perfect afternoon spent doing not a lot.
Great food but came out cold...sevice was really not good. Real shame lovely place but only one guy as waiter had no idea!!
My wife reserved a table for my birthday. They had placed balloons on the table decoration (a nice touch despite being 35) and I got a complimentary pint. In addition to these nice touches the food, service and views were excellent and I would recommend and return.
Very busy lunchtime venue serving good quality food and the Badger beers were excellent. If you are intending to eat here book in advance to ensure a table especially at weekends, even in the winter.
This is a friendly well run hotel/restaurant/pub. Food is excellent and well worth the cost. Staff are friendly and helpful too. Dog friendly areas inside as well as outside
Good place to sit outside & watch the boats in the bay.....
Delicious food, great choice, amazing views, warm, friendly staff and beautiful furnishings/decor, couldn't ask for more.
Amazing food and great service. Our waitress was lovely and charming. The setting and building itself is also beautiful and interesting.
Reasonable food and a lovely place to admire the view
Great views. Up to date decor. Food imaginative. Allows dogs in bar with food service
A nice picturesque setting with smart decor, with good food and drinks, and a great view of teignmouth and the coast.
Good atmosphere but not so good food. Went as a group of 5 for dinner on 12th march with one of the guests having been a chef for 15 years including in Michelin starred restaurants. The tiger prawn in garlic starter was delicious but 40 minutes after ordering our mains the waiter came out and told us they had run out of steak. Two of us changed our order to burgers. The chicken burger was so dry it was inedible and the meat burger was only marginally less dry. Both were a bit like leather. The bun felt stale and the salad wilted with heat. After mentioning these issues and due to the long wait for food we were offered complimentary desserts which was good customer service. However, their idea of crumble is very different to mine. They had run out of normal crumble but still had it as a mini pud. We joked that how could they do a hot crumble in a shot glass. Well they can't. It wasn't even a crumble. Tasty but cold stewed fruit with custard on top and a tiny sprinkle of sugar on top. Not a crumble at all. As the ex chef laughed I joked his ice cream would be served hot. Well it came out half melted so we weren't far wrong. The steaks the party did get seemed to be ok. Nice for a drink but do not expect consistently good food.
Not been here for some time wonderful views sorry to say we thought it was expensive staff need to go on a refresher course our food was brought but the table was left uncleared from previous customers apparently it's due a refurbish ment apparently there was a specials board but this was not mentioned there is parking but you have to pay there is accommodation with free parking and a balcony looking out to sea how very nice would we go again yes and hopefully there will be some vast improvement ps dog friendly and outside seating
Fantastic place to eat or have a drink. Both inside and outside are lovely, beautiful views across the street to Teignmouth. Tanglefoot pie is highly recommended!
Nice place
Nice atmosphere
Just dropped in for a catch up with a friend and a tea for two. Friendly and great views across to Teignmouth and sea.
Enjoyable meal in a great location. The view was beautiful, the food was good and great value. Easy yo book on line. Very nice staff.
Nice setting
Mediocre food and service
Very well kept. Good service. Great food. Amazing location.
Great place to stay. Lovely rooms etc, but food could be better. Award winning pie was very disappointing.
Food took ages to come up chicken wings were way overdone and the order was wrong, I'd try somewhere else next time and it was a bit pricey too and i come from London.
Great food and service, would recommend and visit again.
Food was lovely, seemed to be homemade. Prices were reasonable, great views. Service was a bit slow but it was Easter Sunday
Eaten here before and it can be great but unfortunately there seemed short staffed and got orders wrong, getting extra drinks was hard work also food wasn't brilliant, the birthday boy couldn't eat his steak as it was tough and grisly . View and atmosphere fantastic as normal.
Great place . Food good . Worth staying for a few days .using it as a base to tour around the area
Lovely setting by the Reign estuary and great views. Food excellent, we had the cod with vegetables and falafels. the Falafels were moist and tasty. Wine menu not bad . Service very good, well run establishment. Flexible with the menu too to suit non dairy..Will be visiting again. Recommended.
Love the atmosphere and surroundings ,very cosy inside and lovely views to look out on .
The Ness a rocky outcrop that towers over the skyline so named because it resembles a nose or nez in French
Very busy booking is essential especially on a Sunday fab view
Our favourite place to go after our dogs walk at the ness. Friendly staff and dogs friendly too a range of lovely cakes to chance from...sit in or out
Emm. For the price, I expected a lot. Food was ok. But certain parts of the order were wrong or forgotten. I'll go to the cafe by the car park next time. Disappointed. Start were excellent. Any issue, they sorted it quick.
Took mum for lunch, three of us ate. Fish and chips, sea food platter and Devon dressed crab. All courses delivered quickly and were hot and tasty. Staff attentive and sitting outside overlooking the sea was stunning. Will definitely be visiting again.
Disappointed.. We have eaten here many times over the last 20 years.. We haven't been able to come for the last couple of years due to health reasons..so as we are staying in Teignmouth and were looking for a place for a birthday treat decided to visit for a special evening.. Started OK but main course was a real disappointment burger was really dry and salmon pave was slightly overcooked.. We were then the least popular customer in the restaurant and struggled to get any attention.. We were offered a fee pudding, I asked for burger to be taken off the bill.. The waitress was clearly miffed at this.. Still most unpopular customer.. Very sadly will not recommend x toilets were not the best either x I have photos xx
Character pub with atmosphere, overlooking the sea and town. There is a large council car park located a short walk away, on a steep hill, and the pub has a small car park attached. There is outside seating, overlooking the water. The pub has a bar and a number of sitting areas, some of which access the view. There is a good selection of draught beer, cider and all the usual drinks stocked by a good public house. The menu is adequate, though not extensive. Reservations are recommended, particularly in the summer season. Rooms are available for those wishing to stay overnight. Lots to see and do in the area, including a small zoo and a Pirate tunnel to a small beach.
Fantastic views, great food, friendly staff, wonderful service. In my opinion one of the best pubs I have ever been to in one of the best towns in England.
Beautiful quirky pub and hotel. We loved its uniqueness. Staff were friendly and food lovely as well. Beautiful of Shaldon and grass area outside. Dog friendly as well. We all want to go back and stay there. Lovely.
It is a really good restaurant and I would like to go back very much
Lovely location with beautiful far reaching views over Shaldon and Teignmouth. Lovely food and very good service with a smile.
First time in ages that I've not been disappointed with a meal out!
Great location overlooking the Teign estuary. Nice decor throughout and dog friendly with an open fire. Food is excellent if a bit pricey but the view from the window is amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely a place to go to if you are in the are. Nice cosy atmosphere, lovely in both summer and winter.
Great romantic location and atmosphere. The service was excellent. The food lacked lustre and the menu could do with more vegetarian options. None the less, an enjoyable experience.
Absolutely love it here. Great beer, great coffee and some of the best views around! Plenty to do in the vacinity and a great base to start exploring from.
What a lovely place. Met some friends (a newly wed couple) there for drinks. (They'd stayed the night). I would stay there in a heartbeat.
Excellent food, spectacular views and brilliant service particularly from.the young male waiting staff. Extremely polite and happy.
Cosy, friendly, modern, nautical themed pub / restaurant
Food and service good, beef was a little too rare for my liking and ordered a dry martini and was given a bianco. Small details but would check next time.
