The Hangout

I love to order a light meal and glass of wine, and sit outside and people watch. The food is always nice, if a little pricey. Cap it off with a visit to Keplers next door and you have a relaxing urban afternoon.

This place is a Menlo Park institution. Great for coffee or a light meal. Live music some evenings.

Their hot chocolate is excellent! Very large serving size served in a nice glass with great presentation. Atmosphere is very relaxed and the place is very clean. Feels very upscale.

Great food. The frosted mocha is amazing and the veggie melt is my favorite. Go early or they can run out of stuff.

Plenty of outdoor seating, great selection of food. I got the banana pancakes and coffee cake and was not disappointed.

Great place to meet up. Inside is a tad loud. Outside is wonderful when the elements line up: sometimes it's too windy or too hot. But lots of space, solid coffee and a reasonably extensive menu. The best place in Menlo Park all things considered. Parking around the corner (north of the Cafe) underground.

I'm surprised at the reviews, I found the food pretty bad/mediocre and extremely busy. There is definitely better in Palo Alto.

Delicious food and friendly service! I have really enjoyed their french toast as well as their omelets for brunch. For lunch I've loved their salads--super fresh ingredients and delicious flavors!

Pretty good tea and coffee. Pretty good parties and edibles. Terribly crowded with long waits and inadequate bathrooms for the massive crowds. Kind of expensive. Not really worth the crowds they attract?

Food is very good, and the atmosphere is great. The cashiers are friendly and helpful. I've never been disappointed after coming here.

I went back never I enjoyed their salad and sandwich combo.I asked the cashier if there was a vegan option and he recommended the roasted eggplant sandwich. It wasn't until I was almost the bites into it when I discovered there was bacon in the sandwich.

Good place to have lunch and to get your fix for a sweet tooth when in Menlo Park.

Hasn't changed.. This place is wonderful for coffee and lite meals. Close to the bookstore if you want to read while you have a coffee.

Incompetent, inconsiderate, arrogant service and management is all I have to say about them.

Good selection of great food, excellent coffee (for the US), very friendly staff.

The food is decent, but they don't have amenities for children that you'd expect from a location like this. They don't have high chairs or booster seats and they don't have changing tables in the bathrooms. I was told by their staff if I wanted a child to sit at a table I'd have to do so outside by stacking plastic chairs on top of one another. Not exactly the model of safety I'm looking for and probably won't be on my list of places when weather would be an issue.

I love going here for breakfast/brunch! Check to make sure they're open though because a couple of times I went and they were closed ): Parking might be a little difficult, street parking or there is a parking garage nearby. They have A LOT of tables outside so SIT OUTSIDE! It's so relaxing to sit outside and enjoy your food :)

FOOD:
1. Belgian Waffles with Spiced apples and Pecans: I love their plain belgian waffles but this one takes the cake! The pecans are a great because they add a nice nutty flavor and crunch to waffles and the spiced apples gives it a nice cinnamon kick and sweetness. definitely my favorite of all their waffle choices! The waffle is also pretty big and it's nice and fluffy :)

2. Smoked Salmon Bagel Plate: This a favorite breakfast/brunch staple of mine and it's really well done here. If you want something salty and savory, go with this dish. The salmon had a nice smoked flavor and the plate comes with capers, onions, tomatoes, and cream cheese. It's delicious! And they give a pretty good amount.

3. Their pastries were all pretty good, nothing too special.

DRINKS:
1. Frosted Mocha: rich, decadent, and smooth. I love this drink, but you should definitely share because it was hard for me to finish it alone.

2. Mexican Mocha: I wish it had a little more spice to it, but it was pretty good.

So good. I love the waffle with mixed berries and real maple syrup. Nothing beats getting a table outside on a nice day.

The chicken chimichurri is off the charts delicious!

Cafe Barrone is such a great little spot for outdoor lunch. Highly recommend the club sandwich (served on their soft focaccia, yum). The staff is always helpful and friendly!

Been visiting cafe since it open eons ago. Always great. Breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner. You can't go wrong.

For me I've never really liked Cafe Barone's I'm from Menlo Park and I feel out of place when I go there anyways the staff was very friendly everybody was working hard very clean bunch of places to sit I personally don't order food there because I think it's a little over price like I said in my past reviews I've worked in many restaurants and I don't think a simple sandwich be over $13 but hey if you like the food then that's fine I'm not trying to bash I just don't agree with their prices on their menu but the beer was good nice and cold if you just trying to relax in a mellow place that's definitely a place to hang out at

Great atmosphere for a cafe. For a sunny morning or day in Menlo Park, this is a great place to stop by to take in the atmosphere or get a good bite to eat.

Nice Cafe for any meal, they make great soup and egg dishes. Service is pretty fast and usually good, although sometimes they forget things.

Great cafe, you feel like you're in Europe when you're here. However, it is grossly overpriced.

Love Cafe Borrone! Always make a visit anytime I'm the Bay area. Always have a fresh selection of specials, good espresso, and friendly staff.

Extremely crowded place for maybe-better-than-average breakfast...the magic of Bay area. I would give it a 3.5. If it wasn't crowded, it'd be a 4.

Awesome location, menu and staff. Mexicans mocha's are delicious. The frosted mocha's are crazy good too!! Only one thing missing is wifi. :( there's no wifi and keplers next door hardly works don't even try.)
