I recently purchased a laptop from Totally Awesome Computers and I am extremely satisfied with my experience. The customer service was excellent and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The laptop itself has exceeded my expectations and performs flawlessly. I would highly recommend Totally Awesome Computers to anyone in need of a new computer.

I’ve purchased two machines from Totally Awesome Computers in Salt Lake City over the past four years, and we are completely happy with the experience. The staff here are consistently professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. When we had issues with sound card upgrades due to shipping delays, the friendly team in the Bountiful location went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of while we waited. The lifetime service guarantee was a major draw for us, and with the awesome support from Nick, Mike, Dave, and the rest of the crew, we know we’ll be customers for life.

I bought a custom PC from Totally Awesome Computers in Salt Lake City back in March 2004 for video editing and HDTV use. I paid over $3,400, but the machine was a disaster. It constantly blue-screened and locked up. Instead of helping, they blamed my case for overheating and charged me another $91 to swap it out. The problems only got worse. I struggled with software crashes and eventually had to take a training class they recommended, only to find the issues persisted. The breaking point came in August when the computer smelled like smoke. I opened it up and found the video card wasn’t seated properly in the AGP slot—it was at an angle and loose. They later sent photos claiming I caused burn damage to the card and refused to fix it, even though Dell Schanze’s promise said they’d cover you whether it’s their fault or not. They just want to sell you a working unit with their defect. I had to buy a new card myself just to get the PC running. The design clearly couldn’t handle the hardware I was promised it could. I’m demanding a cash refund that accounts for the original price, the extra case cost, and the training class fee, minus the small amount for a burner I returned. I am not satisfied at all.

One star. I brought an offer from Newegg for an AMD Athlon XP "Barton" 2500+ processor ($90 with warranty and free shipping) to Totally Awesome Computers in Riverdale, Salt Lake City, expecting a price match to avoid shipping delays. The manager initially agreed but then refused the $90 rate once I showed him the site, claiming it was a "sale" price (it was the everyday price) and citing a lack of warranty on their CPUs. He raised the price to $100. After a brief argument, he claimed they were out of stock anyway and I’d have to wait five days for a new unit. I just ordered from Newegg instead. The staff at the Riverdale location definitely need an attitude adjustment.

Spent years putting up with Totally Awesome Computers’ ads, so I finally walked into their Sandy store to buy a gaming PC I’d researched online. The sales associate, Adam, was decent, but the manager turned hostile the moment I questioned his claim that Mushkin RAM is 33% faster than the competition. Once he realized he wouldn’t make much profit matching the price I already had, he refused to do so, citing that their ads only promise they *can* beat prices, not that they *will*. It feels like deceptive marketing. If they want to build a loyal customer base in Salt Lake City, they need to be honest about their pricing—and start by letting that rude manager go.

I’ve purchased five systems for my business from Totally Awesome in Salt Lake City, and every experience has been top-notch. They truly deliver on their promise of quality support. Whether I call them or drop by their shop, they handle issues like software glitches free of charge. I’m especially thankful for their emergency same-day service, which has saved me more than once. Having worked with other IT providers in the past, I can confidently say Totally Awesome is in a league of their own. I’ve found my permanent tech partner.

Totally Awesome Computers in Salt Lake City charged way too much. I compared the parts prices to other sellers and they were inflated. The owner is awful; he seems more focused on money and projecting his Mormon image than actually being a good person. Basic service should be free, but if your IBM hard drive fails, they pressure you into buying an upgrade and charge extra to try and recover your data. Definitely not a place I’d recommend.

I’d recommend Totally Awesome Computers to anyone who is comfortable with the basics of setting up a PC, like connecting peripherals. They don’t include manual setup guides, though their Salt Lake City tech support is happy to walk you through it over the phone if needed. They shipped exactly what I ordered; although there was a brief delay with my video card, they upgraded shipping at no extra cost and delivered on the promised date. When you factor in shipping, their total price is actually quite competitive. The system arrived in perfect condition, booted up smoothly, and features top-tier name-brand components that make it a fast, well-built machine. I’ve contacted support a few times for minor keyboard questions, and the phone is always answered within a couple of rings. They efficiently directed me to the right driver downloads, which is my only gripe—I wish all drivers came pre-loaded. Plus, their warranty is fantastic, so far the best I’ve seen.

I was genuinely impressed by the hardware quality and the sleek designs of the machines at Totally Awesome Computers in Salt Lake City, but the customer experience left a lot to be desired. My laptop went back and forth to their shop four separate times before the core issue was even touched on, and I eventually had to resolve it myself. When I emailed "Superdell" to vent my frustration, the response was condescending, as if my lack of technical knowledge was the problem rather than their work. He even claimed that since I hadn't purchased the machine directly from him, that was the sole cause of the trouble. The technicians I dealt with seemed half-asleep and barely interested in helping. To make matters worse, I was billed four separate times for these visits, with them swapping out parts that ultimately didn't solve the original problem. It felt like I was just paying for unnecessary repairs. While their systems are top-notch and their prices are fair, the service is poor. If you buy from them, be prepared for multiple trips to the shop if something goes wrong.

Totally Awesome Computers truly lives up to their name. The team in Salt Lake City is not only knowledgeable but incredibly warm and accommodating. I was pleasantly surprised when they removed a virus from my machine at no cost. Later, after my son wiped my hard drive, they gladly reinstalled my operating system for free as well. Their promise of a lifetime warranty is genuine and clearly backed by their actions.
