Took forever for our order to be taken but the food a d drinks were good

They won't rob me again! Ordered the Cobb salad and it was mostly lettuce. No avocado, no tomato, no cheese, no bacon. I was still hungry after sharing the appetizer platter, so I ate my granddaughters mediocre chicken fried rice. Between me, my daughter and my grand, my bill was $60. I won't back.

My friends and I sat at the bar for 25 minutes, without getting served. Just as we were about to leave, the bartender (with an attitude) sent someone to take our orders. We got our cocktails (finally), but one wasn't what we ordered, & they didn't fix it. I just paid & left.

Great spot with a chill mature atmosphere. The food was amazing. The Anita Baker Bacon Burger is the best bacon burger in Detroit. It was picture perfect and delicious! A perfect place to go have a few beers and a meal. Prices are fair too!

Was treated extremely rude by the bartender, a young lady with braids, I had a pocket full of money I was trying to spend and couldn't. Don't worry another Bar will take my money...smh!!!

Was looking to enjoy a new restaurant with my girlfriend when I googled this establishment. Initially we were excited upon finding this place. Then it went downhill; we went in and sat ourselves. The waitress never acknowledged us. She then gave US one menue....still never spoke or acknowledged us. We asked if they had a drink menu, she shook her head "no". No conversation or dialogue. After 10 minutes of not being acknowledged or helped, we got up and walked out. A very disrespectful experience. I will NEVER GO BACK! We try to go to urban establishments but this is why it doesn't work: poor customer service!!!

Got there near six, it wasn't packed at all. The service was sociable and attentive. Prices are decent for the quality.

Toya u were just on Fox2 Detroit. If Fox2 decide to send someone in there, it wouldn't look good on your behalf my fries tasted just like the burnt smoke that filled the entire restaurant YOUR MANAGEMENT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT ASAP!!!! MY LONG ISLAND drink tasted like faucet water, no kick at all!!!!! I got more of a buzz from the smokey atmosphere than my $10 drink... Smdh

Staff is wonderful. But the food was not so good mac and cheese was awful. Food was bland..

I love this place great service great atmosphere delicious food I was never a fan of catfish Sweet Soul Bistro definitely made me a fan with your Aretha Franklin catfish bites seasoned to perfection they have a lot of things to choose from on the menu you might find celebrities dining in you must try this place out for yourself absolutely love love love

First time I ordered EVERYTHING was delicious, second time not so much. Asked for catfish to be well done and extra dipping sauce of course I only received one and my fries were burnt.

First visit for my wife and I. Upon approaching the entrance we walked through clouds of smoke from patrons in front of the door smoking outside on the sidewalk. Extremely loud music inside which made it difficult to even hold a conversation and there were only a handful of people inside. No draft beer so we ordered bottles. Wifey had lobster mac n cheese which was very tasty. My food came much later. I ordered a fried chicken pita and garlic parmesan fries. Pita was wrong, I received grilled chicken. Didn't say anything because I was extremely hungry. Overall my food was just okay. Then when we asked for the bill, the waitress came over to tell us the total. We asked if we could see the bill first before payment. Prices were correct but I thought that was weird by just telling us the amount instead of giving us a bill. Maybe another visit will determine if I want to patronize this neighborhood spot again for the future.

Food was good.... but it was 87 degrees in the place. So don't go on hot summer days!

Had the time of my life on Friday night and was invited to a VIP Brunch by the owner being held the next day Saturday afternoon at 3pm the food was very tasteful and well prepared the staff was very professional and attentive to the needs of the customers I will defiantly return next week

Love it..i came to eat here because i met a few people who worked here... the owner is so down to earth and i must say she have a beautiful establishment... I will make it a ritual to eat here at least once a week from now on...

The food is good but the service is HORRIBLE. I came on a Tuesday (slow night) I sat at the bar and after about 10 mins I was able to get a bartender attention I ordered wings and fries. 10 minutes later I had changed my mind and didn't want to get fries any more. So I tried to get my bartender attention but failed because she was to busy getting wasted herself. After getting a different bartender attention I was told I could not cancel anything because 15 mins had passed. Long story short I got so upset I had to leave the bar. I was so pissed because I was really Hungary. Sad but I won't be returning.

The service was terrible theyserved as water in plastic cups. It took 50 minutes to get our food. And when we got it the fries with hard and the food was burnt. I would not recommend this place and I will never go there again.

I went there last night for the first time and the wings seem like they had been sitting for hours and smothered in sauce to find the fact. I was very disappointed after hearing good things. I would never order ago from this restaurant

This is a Redemption story.... This place takes criticism and praise and update themselves. Not only do they take credit but they are constantly working on being family friendly!! At first I wasnt a fan of your team but now upon seeing the improvement I take my hat off to you... Keep up the good work

I loved my visit here. It was clean, they played good music and the staff were attentive and polite. The owner was there and was incredibly sweet and showed EXCELLENT customer service. I asked for mashed potatoes which is not an item that's on the menu......the owner made them for me anyway no questions asked. I felt that was incredibly sweet of her. She goes above and beyond for her business and you can tell. I saw that they host game nights on Wednesdays, so I'm already planning my next trip with my family.

Not only was the service good, but the food was really good as well, it tastes homemade and I LOVE that.

I try to support black owned businesses as much as possible, but my service at Sweet Soul was less than stellar. A party of 3 came in and ordered about 15 minutes prior to anyone else coming into the restaurant. Mind you, its Monday night at 9:45pm. It took 50 minuets to receive chicken and waffles, cheese dip, and a chicken sandwich. PRIOR to receiving the food or being updated on a wait time, we were asked to pay for the bill as the server was leaving. After receiving our food (minutes apart), it was clear some of it was sitting under the warmer. My waffle was missing a chunk out of it. We we not checked on by another server and to find out- our original server was still in the venue after we left. The server was also smoking hookah in between serving us which was unprofessional. The food was not worth the almost hour wait. You should also know that there is a $15 minimum on credit cards- that is ridiculous.

I will say if you're interested in karaoke, the karaoke and bar staff were on it and people seemly enjoyed their drinks and the energy the staff provided. They and the fact that we already paid for our food is the reason we stayed to eat.

Great food but chile they so RUDE and unprofessional here I had a birthday dinner here and the customer service me and my guest received was the absolute WORST......it s so much I could say about this place but it s way too much to type just know that was my first and last time visiting this place.... for it to be 5 ppl there when I walked in there wasn t no reason for what I experienced..... only one waitress one bartender both with TERRIBLE ATTITUDES....on a Friday night whew the ghetto

The food was excellent. I had catfish, macaroni and cheese and steamed broccoli. The food came right out the oven and was seasoned just right. I would definitely eat here again!!!!

Food is good but it just takes way to long to get it over an hour

great atmosphere and upscale interior. unfortunately that's about all the good parts I experienced I was there on a Wednesday night for a friend's birthday it was busy but not super busy and our food still took an hour just to get our appetizers. Drink orders also took about 10 minutes and the first bartender charged me an extra dollar for my first beer which I didn't realize until the other bartender got me my 2nd beer.

Cozy atmosphere with pleasant decor. The food is delicious, moderately priced, and with a slightly upscale presentation. They serve everything from simple appetizers up to surf and turf. The cocktails are generous...

They have dancing, karaoke, live entertainment, and sports nights throughout the week.

The staff, management, and ownership are friendly and engaging. This place is an unexpected jewel in the area.

The atmosphere was great and the food was good also.

delish, fried pork chops huge.ans tender. The wait.was.incredible, over an hour, I'll wait any amount of time for this meal. Besides every one there is nice and apologetic ..management needs to take heed

The garlic spinach was 3 thumbs up, I added crushed hot pepper to jazz it a bit. It needed some spice, at least more black pepper.

As for the rest of the food, uh... . I will say, "I didn't finish it". The Mac was, was... interesting.

The price created an expectation that was not met.
Too pricey for the quality and quantity. Should've been $10, 12 max.

Due to the customer service and the decor, I would go back to give it another go one day.

First, they don't accept credit/debit cards, you must use the ATM machine that is there, which is $3 charge! Next, the ATM does not work, it continues to lose connection, therefore you still have to leave location & go to the nearest banking establishment.
Then, you return to location/restaurant and you still have 35 minutes wait for your food; needless to say I WILL NOT BE RETURNING!! What restaurant don't accept credit/debit cards, UNHEARD OF!!!

Irritated..... Been here over an hour!!!! Paid for our order 45 minutes w\tip before we got our food... The waitress that took our money completely ignored us til she brought out out cold wings... But tbh.. Even at nuke warm, the wings were delicious.. My friends mac and cheese was okay after he sent it back for being too cold..... The DJ is wack af.... The saving grace was the spinach dip.... Even though it took forever... It was good af... But I'll never come here again.....

My brother and me love supporting our local black owned restaurants. we paying for our tab and gave our server/bartender $40 and in return she gave back $14 and said i don't have twenty cent. So I instantly said ur math is off u owe us eighty cent she said well we doubt have change so I continued to say well are u going to round up and give a whole dollar or are u guys cheating customers out their money. She goes to say ur the SECOND customers that have complained about this issue. I say because it's illegal and its cheating people out there money so the fact that I had to explain to her why this was wrong just irritated me a bit so no i didn't tip her because I felt the issue was handle poorly and the fact that she didn't consult with me about my money before taking it was unacceptable.

They lamp chops are tooo good one of the best if not best in city and the mac n cheese slap too

The only reason this place has a 4 and not 5 is bcuz it's a small establishment, I would definitely go again plus the food was on point

Service sucked. The wings were cold and they ran out of vinegarett for my salad. The waitress was busy eating and drinking to check on us. Had to flag her down to place our order. Music was good.

The appetizer was better than the actual entre. The service was tolerable. Our pop was poured from the bottle, they didn't have pre-rolled silverware. We were given knives, and the waiter told us out her mouth that she has to wash our forks, which means we had to wait. Once we asked for another cup of Sprite, they no longer had any so then, without asking us they gave us lemonade. We asked for Cola instead and they told us they're Cola was flat. The restaurant has potential, they just need some more time to get things in order.

I'm only giving this Retin-A to because I did like their food and I've been there many times where I didn't have any problems but this last visit was terrible The Waitresses were garbage I waited to 4 hours for a salad and some mac and cheese that did not even come out correctly then I got nothing but attitude from the staff not to mention the owner of the establishment walks up to my boyfriend and has a small conversation with them that her hand was rubbing his chest the entire time super disrespectful I'm a grown up so I did not react but grown people don't behave like that I will not be returning to this establishment

Came with a party and they were not able to accommodate apparently. We had to go to the bar to get water refills. The server disappeared for long stints of time. Food was decent though.

First time being here for a party. Very nice atomosphere, staff was friendly, drinks were good.
