SunCat is a scientific institute that conducts research on challenges associated with the atomic-scale design of catalysts for chemical transformations of interest for energy conversion and storage.
Research at SunCat is facilitated by LCLS, SSRL, EXAFS, and reactors. Furthermore, it develops a range of software to assist them in storing, retrieving, and analyzing electronic structure for modeling heterogeneous catalysis reactions. Their range of software include CatApp, CatMap, Bayesian error estimation functionals, ASE, GPAW, Quantum espresso, FHI-aims, and VASP.
