Substance tries to lower the obstacles that keep people from trying to church.

For those who like what they find, Substance assume to make connections with others looking to grow in their faith.

The services are upbeat and entertaining to keep the attention of those who are new to church and Christianity.

The music is high energy with an engaging and practical message afterward.

Substance offers childcare for families with kids.

Our family had been attending Substance for a few years now, and we have enjoyed the community.

Amazing church that really tries to reach out and help one another. I started going in October and I usually try to slip through the cracks right away when new to a place but they picked me out and really talked to me more in getting to know me instead of "come to our church" concept. I really made me feel more comforted as they wanted to know my relationship and past to help me lean into a church. Now I have signed up to help volunteer, really close to some of worship team, and enjoy waking up early to listen to Pastor Pete's messages.

My husband was told twice that he couldn't be on the worship team. Not given a reason, but I have a feeling that he didn't fit their particular "mold". He is very talented, and yet these people seem to think they are the backup band for Jeremy Camp or something. I was pretty surprised considering that they push getting plugged into the church something you should be doing right away...

We got a vibe from here that if you aren't trendy or don't fit what they consider the church to be about, you will not fit in. We definitely felt that during our time here. Seems like there is a lot more of a show/flashiness here than true seeking of the Lord.

I recommend a different church.

There very judgemental and they say that dancing for worship isn't allowed. Because I guess they all of sudden dictate what is and isn't worship. Nowhere in the Bible does it say you can't dance. Absolutely pathetic and I defintly wouldn't recommend this church. To many judgemental people with a lot to say. And I just can believe they talk to people like that. Used to like substance long ago I guess times have changed it. I won't be back. Try a different church.

Doesn't make a difference who you are where you're from or where you're at in life. Everyone is excepted, respected and made to feel at home even if you don't believe in God or are just curious to see a different take on church. There is always someone here that has time for every individual person (as apposed to "slipping through the cracks" like most other large churches). They say "church doesn't start until the service is over" meaning this is a place to get fed spiritually then check out one or several of the hundreds of small "sub groups"& join one if you'd like to.

Substance church is unlike any church you have ever been before. As you arrive to the campus there are cheerful volunteers waving you where to park, followed by joyous members greeting you at the door holding the doors open happy to have you there, then coffee inside before the service at your convenience.

Aside from the wonderful people you get to meet and see before the service I walk into the auditorium and there is fantastic praise and worship! All of the music is new and the band is extremely talented. After the P&W is where the real fun begins.

The preacher comes on stage and really goes deep into the word in the most creative way I have ever heard before, Jesus has never been explained the way that Peter Haas does, extremely engaging, powerful, passionate, there truly is substance behind every teaching at this incredible church, and most of all you can really feel the lords presence. I've gone to church my whole life and Substance is the best.

I love Substance I have been going here for a few months now and I truly feel at home when I am here.

Great church that actively and genuinely works to bring people to God in the Twin Cites area. Substance is revolutionizing how people view their relationship with God and brings the Word to the 21st century American in a way that's understandable to them. Would highly recommend this church to anyone living or visiting the Twin Cities area.

I've never been to a church that can hook such a variety of audiences, life stages and scenarios. Pastor Peter's messages keep the attention of non-believers, believers, teenagers, moms... I even see grandmas taking notes. The messages have a nice mix of truth, grace, science, theology, stats, relevant stories, meaning and humor. Well done. The only thing I don't like is the rock stars showing on all the screens during worship. They moved to that format at the new northtown campus. I dealt with it because they were just showing the singers on the outer two screens at first and they still reserved the middle screen for only words and no people showing in the background. Now the middle screen doesn't even do that anymore. I jus have to close my eyes and memorize the words now lol. It's not about me though so I just try to deal. Love this church!!!

I love Substance. We've been part of this church for 12 years, since pretty much the beginning, and I love the vision of reaching people that have never gone to church before, or have gone and been burnt (myself included having grown up as a pastor's kid). The people are friendly, and they have a heart to help, to get you involved, to get you some friends who you can do life with outside of the walls. So, if you've on the fence, just come check it out. You've got nothing to lose, and you might just find a place that you can feel like you belong at. A church that's not freaky weird, although I go there, so who knows ;)

Here are a couple cool things about Substance - the services and message overall - super practical, super applicable to daily life, and the delivery is great. Pastor Peter Haas is a superb speaker. Music's pretty great too, for church music especially. Kids' ministry is fun, especially at SLP (this location) - see pictures of the Playland, and some classrooms :) Anyway, hope you make it over here.

"New-age" church...loud music (which I'm cool w/), and friendly people. All-in-all I am not sure that I am going to "make" this my church, but I'll continue to go for a while, and see where it leads me. Pastor Pete seems to really care about his congregation, and typically deliver ON POINT messages.

Finally a church and a pastor that discuss important issues our culture and society are facing today. Most churches provide comfort food by discussing only what people want to hear and be told, without ever really talking about controversial issues that are neccessary to discuss in order to grow and develop ones faith.

Having come from the club and rave scene, and battling first hand with the temptations of this world, pastor Peter Haas is able to connect with people on a very personal level that many pastors cant relate on.

Also if you saw the way he dressed, you would think at times pastor peter was a Buckle or hot topic manager lol. Point being, looks matter very little to Jesus, and Peter wont judge you either on how you look but instead will love you in a Christ Centered way that will immediately include you in this amazing family, (not cult) that exist at Substance.

If you come from a broken family like I did, or are struggling with substance, or emotional and physical abuse, if you want to feel accepted as you are, if you have the desire to live a full and rich life and be a part of something incredible, then you need to be here at Substance. So I invite you to come spend your Sundays with us at Substance Church :)

And if you wanna get to know me better too, Im the 7 foot 3 guy at Substance, you cant miss me lol

I've never felt so comfortable at a church before. It is definitely different than a regular church service that you might expect, but for me, it was different in all the right ways. It aims toward a younger crowd or for those with the same style of worship and creativity. They have such a warm welcome and relatable message. Give it a chance :)

We attended the Christmas program and it was beautiful. The family events are always fun, as well. I can t say enough about what a great job they do- parking, hospitality, the children s ministry, worship and the pastoral staff, they are authentic and love people. If I didn t have a church, I would go there.

Substance is a good church with many young believers. They have a good children's program. Our kids love it! The worship is very loud. They have ear plugs but even so, I really have a hard time entering into worship. The smoke machines are a bit flashy. I believe their vision is true and God is doing good things there. Pastor Peter Hass is a very good preacher, even if he is projected and not in person at times. We have made good friends through family small groups, they have stopped, but hopefully will start up again. With 2 campuses and multi church times I would love for substance to make one service turned down a bit, with quieter music, so people and children with sensory issues, or like me, just sensitive, could enter into worship. I if they did this it would get five stars for sure!

So this place sucks, it's dark and gloomy, I don't like getting herded in like a flock of sheep and being told were to sit, I am uncomfortable and can't stretch my legs, plus if I wanted to watch a sermon or sunday service on a big screen I would have stayed in the comfort of my own home and watched on our big screen. It's a waste of time driving to watch something on a big screen when I could have stayed at home. Plus I can't get up to use the bathroom either. I like when church is light and cheery not dark and dreary. This pastor guy is all over the map. Plus this place is so dang loud, the music deafened my ears! Plus this place is very Liberal and far from conservative!

It's pretty rare to find a Megachurch that feels like a small church. Substance is exactly that. It feels like home, like family. It's not just about the great sermons or awesome worship, it's about getting connected. There is a small group for anything you can think of, from working out to Bible study to board games and even volleyball, it's a great place to make new friends and to find people to help you through this faith walk we call life. The 7 minute parties are amazing - getting to meet the pastors and staff, ask questions, and find ways to get connected, it just further contributes to the family feel. I love this Church!!

Definitely a lively, friendly place, even if it's a first time to visit. It is NOT church as usual. The first time church goer will enjoy. Though aimed at millennials, there are plenty of us white hair folks there. Loud, energetic music but ear plugs are free. Come early or stay late and enjoy free coffee and meeting lots of people.

Lots of discussions on buildings and buying buildings... Acquiring real estate. At times the messages are entertaining and challenging. Also at times it seems like leadership is seen as celebrity... there may be a disconnect with relationships that are intimate passed down to the everyday person who doesn't have a way to serve in the church as a volunteer or be able to give a lot of time to that. If you have a place of leadership or volunteering your considered more in the In Crowd.

Great church to be a part of. If you're visiting or haven't been going for a while - be sure to check out their "Start" class that helps explain and get you plugged in on a 1-on-1 basis. It's easy to kinda "get lost" in the medium/big feel of the church no matter how friendly people are, but when you start getting connected via a small group ("Subgroup") or volunteering (they use a lot of volunteers for everything from greeters to their coffee bar servers), you'll quickly meet new friends and get plugged in. So start out by going to the "Start" class.

Very fun, smart sermons that reach the audience in a way we can understand. I appreciate the humor in the sermons, and real life examples of how the word shows up in our real lives. Great for younger audiences and families. The children's area makes me incredibly jealous to have to adult.

Best church ever. Pastor Peter teaches us in a language every young and old person can understand and relate too. He doesn't sugar coat anything and discusses things that most churches ignore that cause growth in ones spiritual life. Definitely a more conservative approach, not at all liberal. The LGBT Community is always welcome here along with Muslims or people of all walks of faith and life are encouraged to come to Substance. Finally a church where all are welcomed. No judgements.
Hands down the most fun church on the planet.

Great church if you are looking for innovative worship and an ultra hip setting. More for the millennial age group than any other, although their children's ministry is booming. Also, if you are a mom, you HAVE to check out the Substance Morning Moms group, it is so refreshing.

Substance Church: Know God, Find Freedom, Discover Purpose, and Make a Difference

Substance Church is a vibrant community of believers that seeks to help people know God, find freedom, discover purpose and make a difference in the world. The church was founded on the belief that everyone has a unique purpose in life and that by connecting with God and others we can fulfill our potential.

At Substance Church, we believe that knowing God is the foundation of everything else. We offer various programs to help people deepen their relationship with God such as Bible studies, prayer groups and worship services. Our goal is to create an environment where people can encounter God's love and grace in a real way.

Finding freedom is another important aspect of our ministry at Substance Church. We understand that many people struggle with addictions or other issues that keep them from living their best life. That's why we offer support groups for those dealing with addiction or other challenges such as depression or anxiety. Our trained counselors provide guidance and encouragement to help individuals overcome these obstacles.

Discovering purpose is also essential to living a fulfilling life. At Substance Church, we believe that everyone has unique gifts and talents given by God for His purposes. We offer classes on discovering your spiritual gifts so you can use them to serve others within the church community or beyond.

Making a difference in the world is something we are passionate about at Substance Church. We believe that serving others is one of the most significant ways we can show Christ's love to those around us. That's why we have various outreach programs such as feeding the homeless or supporting local schools through volunteer work.

In addition to our core values of knowing God, finding freedom, discovering purpose and making a difference; Substance Church offers many other programs designed for all ages including children’s ministry (Kidzlife), youth group (Elevate), young adults (The Collective) as well as men’s/women’s ministries.

Our church also provides opportunities for personal growth through leadership development courses which equip individuals with skills needed for effective leadership within their families or workplaces.

At Substance Church you will find an inclusive community where everyone feels welcome regardless of background or beliefs; it doesn't matter if you're new to faith or have been following Jesus your whole life - there's always room for growth!

We invite you to join us at one of our worship services held every Sunday morning at 9:00 am & 11:00 am CST either online via live stream on YouTube/Facebook Live OR In-person at any one of our physical locations across Minnesota including Andover Campus | Blaine Campus | Downtown Minneapolis Campus | Northtown Campus | Spring Lake Park Campus

In conclusion,

Substance Church exists not just as another religious institution but rather it serves its members by providing them with tools necessary towards achieving spiritual fulfillment while making positive impacts within their communities.

We hope this brief overview has given you some insight into what makes us different from other churches out there!
