Heard the Stagecoach Inn had reopened. Stopped by for Lunch on June 20 2017 only to learn they werent open on Mondays and Tuesdays. It would have been nice if the owners had let people know. Their sign on their website says open daily. Not true.
The food isn't as good as it used to be. Prices are ridiculous. For 2 of us to have chicken salad (disappointing) and 1 consomme with hush puppies (used to come with meal. Now $11). And we had a ok brownie we shared for dessert. And we drank water. The grand total was almost $45.00. For lunch!!! Not worth it at all!!!
A very nice room. The pool was beautiful. Friendly staff.
Newly remodeled, has a very funky retro feeling. Service was good and the roo.s were nice. Did not like that you could not drive to your room. The lighting in the rooms is terrible.
Servings are very small for the price. We actually got our food before we received our drinks this time..
This was a very good experience. The food was very good and the service was good.
I'm really starting to love Salado! Enjoyed everything about or visit. The restaurant was so nice, the staff was amazing & the food was delicious!
The remodeled rooms are beautifully decorated and look better in person than in the photos online but they are not practically decorated. The rooms are spacious but the one table in the room is very small and most of the space on it is already taken up by the coffee maker and lamp. There is no hotel/restaurant/bar information in the room. If you called the front desk with a question they were very helpful. The only chair in the room is a small wooden chair that is not made for sitting comfortably. There is not adequate lighting. the small lights next to the bed are more like night lights and not bright enough to read by. The only other real light in the room is a lamp on the other side of the room from the bed. The bathroom is beautifully lit and well tiled. The shower and water pressure were absolutely wonderful. There is no actual vanity so there is nowhere to put anything in the bathroom. The bathroom vent is not hooked up to any switches so it did not work but there is a great nightlight located under the vanity. The balcony is a nice bonus. The parking is located a little ways away and they do offer golf carts to help you take your stuff to the room. However returning after dark you will find a dark path with no lights in sight to find your way back to your room. Hopefully this will be remedied when all of the construction has been completed. The pool was clean and very nice. Overall the place has a lot of potential and when the construction is complete will be a wonderful place but we did not feel like it was worth the nearly $200 (w/taxes) a night in its present state.
Great food, great service! Jazzy background music in an historic building. Really fun experience.
The Braised Lamb Belly was mostly delicious. I wish it served a little hotter. I was not to find of the new type of carrots I . Thank u for substituting the Brussels Sprouts with a salad. Thank u for the lesson on how the inside of the RibEye supposed to look. My family members were not happy with extremely raw parts of the RibEye. My family and I thought the dessert was delicious. I really enjoyed the taste of the chocolate. Was so light and extermely delicious. Thank u for wonderful, Kind staff.
The prime rib was amazing! And the service was incredible. I've had worse dining experiences in 5 star restaurants in major cities.
It seems they are still working on their menu. No cohesion. Deserts were awful. Wine and beer selection very good. Some individual elements of the meal were very good, but overall it's a pass if you trying to take your wife out for a romantic meal. Service was lacking. Was difficult to get a server or manager.
Worst experience ever. Food was not even lukewarm. Server had no personality. Didn't ask us how our food was. Server Didn't know about wines.
Perfect food, from start to end. We had Banana fritters and Hushpuppies for apetizers, Fried Chicken Steak and Chicken and Dumplings for entree and the strawberry and meringue dessert. ALL soooooo good! Thank you for a perfect dinner!
The service was good the food was expensive and average quality at best
I won my stay at the hotel! It was pretty worth it the hotel is very chic and cute. We walked around the square. We tried the cute little breakfast at the hotel. The food was delicious. The employees were very kind. I would for sure come back
That has got to be the best 12 oz ribeye steak that I have ever eaten and I'm 68 years old and I ate the whole thing and I only weigh 117 lb that should tell you how good it was!
This place has been a rest stop since before the stagecoach was invented. I used to visit it as a kids and remember how wonderful the restaurant was. They're finishing up a massive renovation and I was really pleased to see that the restaurant is updated and they kept some of the original menu items too. Food and service was wonderful. I look forward to visiting again after the renovations are completed.
Good food and good service. Prices are not what everyone may be comfortable with. We've had a few menu issues in the past but management was receptive to our feedback.
Underwhelming at Sunday Brunch w the salmon entree which was no more than 4 oz, a dollop of coleslaw under it for $20. No bread was offered.
Love the new menu...due to new ownership. Food was delicious and portions were the right size...no mammoth.
Love this place! Fantastic burgers and even better staff!
I really wanted to enjoy this place. The location is great as is it's older reputation. The food was not great and the service was severly lacking. It was almost as if the food was from a freezer. Hopefully with more time, they'll be able to clean things up and offer better customer service.
The reviews on website are from 3 to 5 to how many years ago. Please find a way to delete and start over fresh. I read them and had I not known you just reopened, I would never have bothered to eat there again because I do remember when it was really bad.Thank you for making it great again.
Great food and accomidiating service with pleasant atmosphere.
Prime rib wasn't as tasty as I had hoped since it was a special night for it.
Had Christmas dinner. It was excellent. Little disappointed there was no turkey, but had prime rib, ham, chicken slices in a herbed sauce
Food was great and the service excellent.
Horrible food and service. Was even told by the Manager or owner that they dont want to be like the use to be.
Stagecoach inn put this sleepy town on the map. Warm and inviting, excellent food and drink, exceptional wait staff. What more can you ask for?
Great place for the family to celebrate an 80th birthday!
Totally re-imagined Stagecoah Inn! My wife and I stayed here several years ago and it has since been disassembled and the architecture totally re-done. The rooms are more like what you would have at a nice beach resort. Everything is new and fresh. From the highway the place looks like its closed but its not, rather some blocked off portions on that side are still undergoing a facelift. We were here on a Weds/Thurs and so far no construction noise or workers to be seen. The parking is now a lot next to the creek and check in is on main street. You cannot drive through the property anymore (things that used to be roads are now open green spaces), not sure if this is temporary but i hope it permanent because the whole place seems more like a resort than an inn now!! Carts take you to your room. A+++ on the changes, will be staying at this little oasis every time I'm in the area from now on.
I grew up around the area as a kid.moved away and pass thru once a year.i noticed stagecoach was open.decided to treat my family .atmosphere was good, server was awesome.the food was good...BUT was not happy with French toast..was slightly burned..not supposed to have black of overcooking..and my chicken fried steak was not brown...more of darker need to change oil brown....chef or cook should have known better.did not say anything cause wife and kids said to leave it alone ..not make a scene...note to cook "golden brown"...not black or heavy dark brown,,on items you make consistently....
Only ate at the restaurant. Food and service were excellent.
This place is truly a Texas Oasis. I wasn't thrilled when we chose Saledo, TX for our weekend getaway, but Stagecoach Inn quickly made it an enjoyable experience. They have transformed the hotel grounds into a relaxing gem hidden in sleepy Saledo.
WOW... almost have NO other words! The food was incredible! The jalapeno cream corn was delicious & the pulled pork eggs Benedict was just delicious! The flavor combination was incredible!
I have to say, my expectations were pleasantly exceeded with the new Stagecoach Inn. Having created some of my fondest memories at the seven acre Salado staple, I never thought the remodeled oasis could stand up to my experience as a child. I was wrong.
The room design is fun and certainly has that retro-modern kind of wow factor (it looks like something Liz Lambert might pull together). But it wasn t form with no function . The sheets are super cozy, the towels soft and the vibe inviting. Each room also comes with these super-hip robes, custom made for the hotel. I m kicking myself for not buying one on the way out.
Each room (from what I can tell) have their own little front porch type space with some kind of ivy growing up and around the entry way, creating this kind of private xeriscaped mini-yard. Perfect for relaxing with a cocktail or a book or whatever you like to chill with ;)
Anytime I needed something, the staff were happy to oblige, greeting us in a golf cart ready to wheel us around wherever we needed to go.
I could ramble on and on.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a weekend getaway (I m looking at you, Austinites), for those who have something going on in the surrounding area or folks who, like me, have wonderful memories of the historic Stagecoach Inn.
There really is something about it. Something that reminds me of home. I love it and will definitely be back.
Lodging is impeccable and well maintained. Staff is very professional and accommodating. Layout of grounds is well thought-out and curated. They make you feel really special and cared for while a guest
The people( especially the waitress Michelle ) they allowed us to roam the restaurant. We took some pictures looking for ghosts. The food was awesome. I had the salad. It was perfect. I almost had the waffles. When someone in my party ordered it. It was so pretty. I can not even thing of one bad thing about this restaurant. I love Salado!
The waiter was very attentive, food was good, loved the ambiance. Will definitely return!
I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. My Husband and I have eaten at Stagecoach Inn twice before. The food was delicious and the restaurant was packed. It has been years since we have been back. We understand that everything changes but they did not change for the better. They added a brunch menu and that was all you could from. The food was terrible. I ordered the chicken fried steak, green beans, and garlic mashed potatoes. The food was barely warm. The potatoes were not garlic, they were pee yellow, no butter taste, and they were like glue. The batter on the chicken fried steak had a slight sour taste like the batter was starting to turn. The green beans were rubbery. My husband ordered breakfast. His food was barely warm, his toast was hard, the potatoes were hard & over salted, his bacon was cold. Our Waitress was nice but the service was terrible. She checked on us 3 times and that included taking our order. Now I understand why there was only one other couple in there besides us. I don't know if we would ever go back. I have eaten at fast food restaurants that had better food. If you decide to eat there do so with caution.
The monument guys from Georgetown have remodeled the dining area beautifully and the food is amazing.
Love this historic restaurant for a lovely evening with out of town guests. Salado is delightful and the Stagecoach Inn Restaurant is a must.
Oh, how I LOVE this place. In the 1980s and 1990s, my grandparents would drive us up to the Stagecoach Inn for special Sunday dinners. My grandmother always ordered the tomato aspic! We LOVED the hushpuppies. And my grandfather always had the consume. And the strawberry kiss? Best dessert ever created (that may be me channeling my inner 12 year old).
Today: The decor is updated and so is the menu. They still have the dishes that are so special there--hushpuppies, consume, tomato aspic, strawberry kiss--and also some more modern dishes--I had the salmon recently & it was very good. The prices are in line with dining at other nice restaurants and this one is historic! Sam Houston once gave a speech from the inn!
The thing is, if you visited during past decades, I hope you'll find the bit of delicious nostalgia that I find there. I can't help but think of my grandfather's laugh and my grandmother's impeccable manners every time I'm there. THANK YOU for reopening.
Great place. The GM, Josh, took great care of us, as well as Emmit our server. Highly recommended!
No more historic uniqueness, it s now blah, blah, blah. It looks more like a visit to the seaside, and the food left a lot to be desired. The hush puppies were tough, heavy and bland; no more crispy tender buttery deliciousness, and the little muffins were cold an bland. The tomato aspic was NOT the creamy, spicy treat that I have looked forward to for the last 45 years, and the grilled pimento cheese sandwich was all bread, there was basically no cheese, they must have used a dressing, not cheese.. They should not trade on the name of The Stagecoach Inn Restaurant, everything about this experience was disappointing.
Very pretty. Atmosphere was great! Several in our group weren't happy with the meal.
I visited the Stagecoach Inn Restaurant as a kid and I loved the waitresses reciting the menu. The hushpuppies were in the shape of a tube, light and airy. After the remodel, the menu is no longer recited and the hushpuppies are round. They have a great happy hour, with a hibiscus margarita, and good tortilla chips and guacamole. Friendly staff.
They are very inconsistent with fpod, drinks and service. Beautiful setting and vibe however.
In the 1990s and early 2000s the food was delicious and predictable. Not so much now.
The atmosphere and decor was great and the service was as well
The Stagecoach Inn Restaurant is adjacent to the Stagecoach Inn. It's a large building with multiple rooms - one with a fireplace, one with a big television, and the others with dining tables.
The location serves a selection of locally inspired food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Customer service was good - we were looked after but not constantly checked in on, and that's great. I appreciated it
The food was tasty and well priced. For dinner, I tried the blackened catfish, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Despite being moderately busy, the food was delivered quickly to the table.
Better yet, the restaurant wasn't too noisy with loud music playing. Recommended!
Everyone was very friendly and the service was great! We had a few hiccups but everything was worth the wait. Thank you very much !Unique dishes and desserts. Worth the trip.
The food was delicious, not worth what they charge but it was different. It's also very fancy in there so don't show up underdressed. I heard it was really good before they had there remodel
Was a very beautiful place to stay, and the staff was very nice and accommodating. Definitely would stay there again.
It's an amazing place. Beautiful. I can't say enough about the food. The chicken fried steak is probably the best I've had in my 60+ years. Please try the hibiscus margarita you won't regret it.
Comfortable rooms centrally located in Salado. Would stay there again.
Well not all that i would not suggest it to high price no icebox in room the beds are bad only thing nice wa the shower
Third time I've been there and same every time. Last try
The wait staff were very pleasant. Quite attentive, but I do wish they had come by one or two more times. It was excellent to have water pitchers at the tables, because we didn't have to flag a waiter down for more, but we did quickly finish those as well.
cute place and nice renovations. the food was noticeably different from the previous 10 years we had all come there. real shame. go back to the old recipes or get the old chefs back. whatever it is now doesn't compare
My friend and I attended the Wine and Chocolate dinner at Stagecoach Inn. Our reservations were at 7 pm and we were taken to our table on time. Around 7:30, we were told that they had ran out of the main course, but we would receive the rib eye and that we should have it in 10 minutes. We did not get our food until 8 pm. The food was amazing and our waiter, Alex, was great on always checking on us.
Food was very good and several creative flavors. The new management is still working out the menu, but I think they are off to a great start. The restaurant is a very nice layout that has some modern touches. I would like to see them continue to work on the flow thru the restaurant but it is very elegant with their gas lanterns welcoming you in the front door. I am very pleased with the way downtown is coming back to life.
Absolutely beautiful little hotel! Everything reminded me of a retro Hollywood Hotel, especially the pool area with the landscaping & unique colorful pool chairs. The rooms have been completely remodeled and have beautiful Saltillo tile floors, new furniture, private patios, & TV s with tons of channels including HBO & Cinemax! The shower was daughters favorite because of the colorful Mosaic tiles & a huge shower head! The small little touches from the handmade bar of soap, bottle of lotion, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and bathrobes are all made by local businesses & made it even more special and unique. We will definitely be back!!!
Went in. Bartender sat us and then nothing. Only 1 other table there. No one came to our table. Left after 5 minutes. 2nd time visiting there. The fish time everything was fine.
I love what the new owners have done with the place. The rooms were nice, had lots of little extras that we appreciated very much. The grounds were beautiful and they even picked us up if we needed and dropped us at our vehicle. The sweet lady when we firstxarrived even carried our bags to the upstairs room for us. We tried to help because we over packed but she just insisted and carried them all. I only wish they had a larger table and dresser in the room but all in all I loved the Stagecoach Inn and will be back
