The exhibit design lacked innovation and felt generic. Their build quality was decent, but I expected more creativity. 🤔
As a customer looking for exhibit design/build services, I found the experience with this company to be average. The website was informative and easy to navigate, providing a good overview of their portfolio and capabilities 🌟. However, the communication during the initial stages was a bit slow, and I would have appreciated more prompt responses to my inquiries. The final exhibit design was good, but I was hoping for more creativity and innovation in the concepts presented. The build quality was satisfactory, but I noticed a few minor flaws that could have been improved upon. Overall, this company provides solid exhibit design/build services, but there is room for improvement in terms of responsiveness and innovative design solutions.

Split Rock Studios - Exhibit Design/Build: Creating Transformative Experiences
Split Rock Studios is a leading exhibit design and build company that specializes in creating custom exhibits and transformative experiences for museums, zoos, aquariums, and other cultural institutions. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Split Rock Studios has established itself as a trusted partner for clients looking to create engaging and immersive exhibits that educate, entertain, and inspire.
At Split Rock Studios, we believe that every exhibit should tell a story. That's why we work closely with our clients to understand their vision and goals for each project. Our team of experienced designers, fabricators, project managers, and technicians collaborate to bring these visions to life through innovative design concepts and cutting-edge technology.
Our proven process serves as a roadmap for each project we undertake. We begin by conducting research on the subject matter of the exhibit to ensure accuracy and authenticity. From there, our team develops initial design concepts that are refined through client feedback until the final concept is approved.
Once the design is finalized, our skilled fabricators use state-of-the-art equipment to bring it to life. We pride ourselves on using sustainable materials whenever possible while still maintaining high-quality standards.
In addition to designing custom exhibits from scratch, Split Rock Studios also offers renovation services for existing exhibits. Our team can refresh outdated displays or completely overhaul them with new designs that better align with current trends or visitor expectations.
But what truly sets us apart from other exhibit design companies is our commitment to creating transformative experiences. We believe that visitors should leave an exhibit feeling inspired by what they've learned or seen - whether it's gaining a deeper understanding of history or feeling more connected with nature.
Some examples of our work include:
- The Science Museum of Minnesota's "RACE: Are We So Different?" exhibit which explores race as both a biological myth and social construct.
- The National World War II Museum's "Road To Tokyo" immersive experience which transports visitors back in time through interactive displays.
- The Minnesota Zoo's "Russia’s Grizzly Coast" habitat which features underwater viewing areas where visitors can observe seals swimming up close.
- The Bell Museum’s “Exploring Space” planetarium show featuring stunning visuals projected onto an 8K dome screen
At Split Rock Studios we are passionate about creating memorable experiences that educate audiences about important topics while also entertaining them along the way. Contact us today if you're interested in learning more about how we can help bring your vision to life!
