To that end, SpectrumLab developed and is licensing the world's first thermochromic coating applicable to outdoor surfaces such as roofs and façades. Such coatings turn white beyond a certain temperature, thus reflecting sunlight in summer and cooling the building, and turn black below said temperature, thus absorbing sunlight and warming the building. This can save on average 15% energy in space heating and cooling every year!
