Set right along the path of the old Elgin and Belvidere Electric Company Interurban railway, The Shortline is an ode to an era long gone. The train still rumbles by a mere block away, but the walls tell a new story. Purchased as an office building and reimagined in the summer of 2017, The Shortline is now a place to gather and enjoy. Creativity exudes from the walls of The Shortline. The sixteen foot bar was repurposed from the desk left in the building and the exterior shiplap, reused as interior finishing. The beauty and thoughtfulness of Japanese cuisine seemed like the perfect match for The Shortline. You will find innovative sushi rolls and handcrafted rice dishes.
