SEIU Local 615 is a union that represents property services, healthcare, and education workers across the United States. With over 300,000 members in more than 20 states, SEIU Local 615 is one of the largest unions in the country.
The union has a long history of fighting for workers' rights and improving working conditions. SEIU Local 615 was founded in the early 1900s as a janitors' union in New York City. Since then, it has expanded to represent workers in many different industries.
SEIU Local 615 represents workers in several different sectors including airports, commercial properties, fast food restaurants, higher education institutions, residential buildings, schools and universities. They also represent security personnel at various locations such as theaters and stadiums.
One of the key areas where SEIU Local 615 has made significant progress is window cleaning. The union represents thousands of window cleaners across the country who work on some of America's tallest buildings. These workers have historically been subjected to dangerous working conditions and low pay but thanks to SEIU's efforts they now enjoy better wages and safer working environments.
In addition to representing its members at work sites across America SEIU local also engages with political candidates who support their cause by endorsing them for office or supporting their campaigns financially.
For example during Brooke Lierman’s campaign for Maryland State Delegate she received an endorsement from SEUI local which helped her win her seat by a large margin.
SEUI local also works closely with other unions such as AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations) which helps them amplify their voice on issues affecting American workers nationwide.
