Schiller & Bodo: A Haven for Art Lovers
Schiller & Bodo is a private art gallery located on the Upper East Side in New York City, just a few blocks from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The gallery specializes in 19th Century European paintings, with emphasis on works from the French Academic, Realist, Barbizon and Post-Impressionist traditions.
The gallery was founded by Lawrence Schiller and Stuart P. Bodo in 1979. Since then, it has become one of the most respected galleries in New York City for collectors and enthusiasts of 19th Century European paintings.
Schiller & Bodo's collection includes works by some of the most renowned artists of that era such as Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Gustave Courbet, Eugène Delacroix, Edgar Degas and Claude Monet among others. The gallery also features lesser-known but equally talented artists like Jules Dupré and Narcisse Virgilio Diaz de la Peña.
One thing that sets Schiller & Bodo apart from other galleries is their commitment to authenticity. They only sell original artworks that have been thoroughly researched and authenticated by experts in the field. This ensures that buyers can be confident they are purchasing genuine pieces with accurate provenance.
In addition to selling artwork, Schiller & Bodo also provides appraisal services for those looking to determine the value of their own collections or individual pieces they may be interested in acquiring.
The gallery's knowledgeable staff are always available to answer questions about specific artworks or provide guidance on building a collection based on personal preferences or investment goals.
Schiller & Bodo regularly hosts exhibitions showcasing different themes within their collection or highlighting specific artists. These exhibitions provide an opportunity for visitors to see rare works up close and learn more about their historical context and significance within art history.
For those unable to visit the physical location in New York City, Schiller & Bodo also maintains an online presence where visitors can browse their collection and make purchases from anywhere in the world.
Overall, Schiller & Bodo is a must-visit destination for anyone with an interest in 19th Century European paintings. With its commitment to authenticity, knowledgeable staff and impressive collection of works by both well-known and lesser-known artists, it is truly a haven for art lovers.
