Parent Heart Watch (PHW) is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to protecting youth from sudden cardiac arrest and preventable sudden cardiac death. Founded in 2005, PHW has become the only national voice solely focused on this important issue. The organization leads and empowers others by educating and advocating for change.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death among young people in the United States. It can happen to anyone, at any time, regardless of age or fitness level. In fact, it is estimated that more than 7,000 children die each year from SCA. This number could be significantly reduced if more people were aware of the risks and knew how to respond when someone experiences an SCA event.
PHW's mission is to raise awareness about SCA and promote prevention strategies that can save lives. The organization works with families, schools, healthcare providers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to create a safer environment for young people.
One of PHW's key initiatives is its advocacy work at the state level.
