PALS Plus: A Cooperative Association of Libraries Serving the Information Needs of Communities

PALS Plus is a cooperative association of libraries in Passaic, Essex, and Hudson County NJ. The organization was established to share resources and better serve the information needs of communities. PALS Plus has been providing quality library services to its members since 1986.

The organization's mission is to provide access to information resources that support lifelong learning, cultural enrichment, and intellectual freedom. PALS Plus aims to promote literacy and education by providing access to books, digital media, and other educational materials.

PALS Plus offers a wide range of services that include interlibrary loan (ILL), reference assistance, online databases, e-books, audiobooks, DVDs/Blu-rays rentals among others. The ILL service allows patrons from one library within the cooperative association to borrow materials from another library in the same network. This service enables patrons who may not have access to certain materials at their local library branch or those who need specialized research material for academic purposes.

Reference assistance is available both in-person at each member library branch or remotely through email or phone calls. Patrons can ask questions about any topic they are interested in researching or seeking more information about.

Online databases are available for research purposes on various topics such as health sciences, business management among others. These databases provide reliable sources for academic research papers or personal interest projects.

E-books and audiobooks are also available for borrowing through PALS Plus' digital platform called Overdrive/Libby app which can be accessed via smartphones/tablets/laptops/desktops with internet connectivity.

DVDs/Blu-rays rentals are also available at each member library branch with an extensive collection ranging from classic movies/tv shows/documentaries/new releases etc., catering towards all age groups' interests.

In addition to these services offered by PALS Plus libraries individually; there are several programs/events organized throughout the year that cater towards different age groups' interests such as storytime sessions for children under 5 years old; book clubs/discussion groups for adults; workshops/seminars on various topics like financial planning/health & wellness etc., aimed towards educating people on important life skills beyond just reading books!
