OneStar Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves as a statewide convener, bringing together key stakeholders from various sectors to advance collaborative approaches that build strong and resilient communities. The foundation was established in 2003 by the Texas Legislature with the mission of supporting and strengthening the nonprofit sector in Texas.
Over the years, OneStar has become a trusted partner for nonprofits, businesses, government agencies, academia, and philanthropic organizations across Texas. The foundation's work is guided by its core values of collaboration, innovation, excellence, integrity, and inclusiveness.
Collaboration is at the heart of OneStar's approach to building strong communities. The foundation believes that when diverse stakeholders come together to share their expertise and resources, they can achieve more than any one organization could on its own. OneStar facilitates partnerships between nonprofits and other sectors to address complex social challenges such as poverty alleviation, education reform, disaster response and recovery efforts.
Innovation is another key value that drives OneStar's work. The foundation recognizes that traditional approaches may not always be effective in addressing emerging social issues or changing community needs. Therefore it encourages experimentation with new ideas or models for service delivery through pilot projects or grants programs.
Excellence is also an important value for OneStar Foundation. - Nonprofit Management Certificate Program: A comprehensive training program designed specifically for nonprofit professionals who want enhance their leadership skills knowledge
- Volunteerism Initiatives: Programs designed encourage volunteerism among Texans including National Service Recognition Day Volunteer Generation Fund
- Disaster Services Program: Provides support coordination during times natural disasters emergencies
- Social Innovation Fund (SIF): A federal grant-making initiative aimed at scaling up innovative solutions address pressing social problems
