Oak & Olive is one of my favorite Italian food spots around. Tonight was busy and the restaurant was packed... as it should be on a Friday night! The service is always awesome and friendly and tonight was no different. Given how busy it was, I assumed that I would have to wait longer for our food, but the wait wasn't bad. Once again I found the food to be excellent, from the portion sizes, to taste, to presentation. I am most impressed with the wait staff's patience with my children even with how busy they were tonight. This restaurant has consistently delivered a great experience. As a bonus, I'm guaranteed to run into friends from the neighborhood and that may be my very favorite part!

My wife and I went here for the first time tonight. After moving to Portland we ve been eyeballing the restaurant for a couple of months because we had a favorite Italian restaurant where we lived previously. Oak and Olive was AMAZING the food was so good, the staff was really nice, and the restaurant its self was really beautiful. It had a fantastic atmosphere. All the flavors were outstanding and were dishes we hadn t tried before. We re looking forward to coming back.

Food was just okay. Felt overpriced for the average food. Nothing comes with your entree - if you want bread, you have to order that separately; the portions are also very small. Paid $50 for a dinner for two and only 1 drink - we both left unsatisfied. There are better places not far away: go to Seasons and Regions Grill instead; roughly the same price but the food is much better and the portions are far more reasonable.

Service just awful. Food can be good and can be just awful (Linguine Vongole...paltry little dollop of pasta, a few clams, clam juice at the bottom of the bowl with RAW sliced garlic. Just awful). Owner's response to issues or requests has been simply rude. High prices for a neighborhood eatery. No environment whatsoever.

We've tried it 3 times. Each one a minor disaster. Good luck.

Simple, perfect food done well. On our first visit, we had the pear pizza. It was absolutely delicious - the combination of sweet/savory was similar to a Hawaiian pizza, only more delicate flavored.
When we visited the second time, we had the meatball sandwich and the roasted garlic pizza with arugula and lemon zest. Wow! The sandwich came with a side of marinara for dipping, and it tasted like cream of tomato soup on steroids. I kind of wanted to ask for a second cup so I could drink it, but I was too shy to ask.
And then there's the cake. OMG, the olive oil cake. When we were there (meatball sandwich day), the seasonal fruit topping was oranges and grapefruit - it was like a thin marmalade glaze. It was moist, dense, perfectly sweet, and warm. Yes, they warm up the slice before serving. Mmm, so incredibly good.
This is our new favorite restaurant..

Food was great. But error with our service resulted in an hour long wait before food was ready and no one bothered to tell us. After half an hour of watching others who arrived after us get their food first, we finally inquired and found out our order went in late. Not happy with how it was handled.

Earlier today we had a family reunion at Oak and Olive with eight adults and five young kids. Food was great, service was excellent and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxed and very welcoming. Oak & Olive is one of our very favorite restaurants. Highly recommended.

I have welcomed this restaurant since it opened...elegant design, usually easy to access, and the food is well prepared and delicious. My family was appalled on Friday evening to try to dine in a half full environment, with owner present, and the restaurant completely overrun by one party, who brought in at least 8 children, 3 to 8?. The children, some still wearing sports team attire, were unsupervised and unrestricted, screamed incessantly, ran circles through the establishment for the 90 minutes we were present. Parents clueless, restaurant staff apparently resigned to it. We were told as we left oh, it is always like this on Friday . This restaurant cannot survive. Chuck E. Cheese; certainly broke our patronage.

I got the gnocchi, which I thought was pretty good but my mother said they were a little tough, the sauce was super good though. She got a pizza which was super good, and possibly the only thing they do well. My dad and friend both got the meat balls and for 17$ they should have been better. The meat balls were pretty tough and should have been marinating in the tomato sauce. Over all it was pretty good they just need to refine some of their dishes.

The food was great. We went with our two small children. They have a large chalk bored wall they will sit you next to if you ask. The kids shared a cheese, apple and bread tray they loved. All of the wait staff talked and were friendly to the kids allowing me and my husband to have a nice dinner.

Staff is very friendly. Great atmosphere but the food is over priced for what you get. I ordered scallops with risotto. There was about 3/4c. Of risotto and one large scallop cut in half. It was $25. I came home and had to eat again. It was all cooked well. Just not enough food.

The food was delicious. Well prepared, fresh ingredients and has finesse, eg the bruschetta with steelhead pate had grated orange rind. A little weird that it was served on soft bread but hey, that's their prerogative. Mushroom risotto was also delicious and cooked perfectly with more that a handful of wild mushrooms. Couldn't give 5 stars because it was $78 for lunch for 2 plus a third entree, no alcohol. The prices feel about 15% too high for a casual neighborhood place.

I had lunch on 9/18 and ordered the Zuppa di Casa, which is beans, zucchini, carrot, etc. It tasted like tomato sauce from the can with a few beans and veggies thrown in. There was no flavor. I actually wondered if they had run out and just threw it together when I ordered it. On the other hand, the bruschetta and lemon/lavender gelato were good. Service was very good.

Nice relaxing place with pizza and pasta. The lasagna was delicious as well as the bruschetta and gelato. They have a nice twist on a Caesar salad. The only problem is that it's right off of Capitol Hwy, which makes it a little noisy, but not much. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a dine-in local pasta place.

We finally got around to visiting Oak Olive for the first time to check it out. We were seating quickly and tried the smoked steelhead for a starter and loved it! The pizza was big enough to split and was also equally as good (we had the Italian.) Overall a great experience and atmosphere.
