For over 10 years, my children have been benefitting from the amazing instruction given by the coaches of this organization. They've developed a love for the game and wake up each weekend ready to play! NYJTL coaches are knowledgeable of the sport. But more importantly, they are kind, and patient. They bring out the best in their students. I appreciate all they do!

When concerns are made they should be taken seriously especially when it involves a hostile unsafe unnutrient enviorment. There should be a separate intity to handle the above . The program is a great ptogram but a employee should value there job and dealing with the public fairly. Equally. Disable people have rights just like anyone else and they can advocate for thereself.

The greatest program for kids after school ever. My kids have done this program for seven years. Our kids have been raised by them and they have done a marvelous job. We couldn t have done what we ve done without them. They help with homework, reading, sports, behavior, sportsmanship, kindness and fun. If you have this program in your area, sign up.

When I was making a park enforcement complaint regarding my safety the Director Scott Daly informed the Park Enforcement Officer A Supervisor Cordero stated there no need for that. I was verbally attacked by an unknown male person threaten and the Director who was not there said this. Unbeknown to me I found out later he work for him as one of his employee at another site. When a person threaten harass and verbally attacks a person and I don't even k ow him this is serious. My safety and my child is important. This was so unprofessional. I had to file a police report and a park enforcement for the safety of us . I also had to have someone meet us. This is serious and not acceptable.

The NYJTL is most of the time a good "camp" for kids, but unfortunately there are some staff that are discriminating against children. The staff has a "lottery" for the selection process, but are able to tell parents that your kids cannot attend trips because the trip itself is full. My question is: how can you have a lottery for who is selected; but can select who can go on trips? If your child is not selected for the trip, they cannot attend NYJTL for that day!!! Makes absolutely NO sense.

About NYJTL

New York Junior Tennis & Learning is the largest grassroots tennis and education nonprofit in the U.S., serving 85,000 kids in all 5 boroughs of NYC annually.

NYJTL: Empowering Kids Through Tennis and Education

New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) is a nonprofit organization that has been making a difference in the lives of children in New York City for over 50 years. Founded in 1971 by Lewis “Skip” Hartman, NYJTL has grown to become the largest grassroots tennis and education nonprofit in the United States, serving over 85,000 kids annually across all five boroughs of NYC.

At NYJTL, our mission is to empower young people through tennis and education. We believe that every child deserves access to quality education and sports programs regardless of their background or socioeconomic status. Our programs are designed to provide children with opportunities to learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and leadership while also improving their physical health.

Tennis Programs

NYJTL offers a wide range of tennis programs for children of all ages and skill levels. Our programs are designed to be fun and engaging while also providing opportunities for kids to develop their skills on the court. We offer after-school programs, weekend clinics, summer camps, tournaments, leagues, and more.

Our coaches are highly trained professionals who have experience working with children from diverse backgrounds. They use innovative teaching methods that focus on developing not only technical skills but also social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills & responsible decision-making.

Education Programs

In addition to our tennis programs we offer academic support services including tutoring sessions during after-school hours at our Community Tennis Centers located throughout NYC. These centers serve as safe havens where students can receive homework help from certified teachers or volunteers who have expertise in various subjects like Math or English Language Arts.

We also provide college readiness workshops for high school students which include SAT/ACT prep courses & financial aid assistance so they can pursue higher education without worrying about financial barriers.

Community Outreach

At NYJTL we believe that community engagement is essential for creating positive change within neighborhoods across New York City. That's why we partner with local organizations like schools & community centers so we can reach more kids who may not have access otherwise due lack of resources or transportation issues etc..

We organize events like "Play Streets" where streets are closed off temporarily so kids can play safely outside without any traffic hazards; "Family Day" events where families come together enjoy free food & activities; "Tennis Block Parties" which bring together communities around shared love for sport etc..

Fundraising Efforts

As a non-profit organization NYJTL relies heavily on donations from individuals corporations foundations government agencies etc.. We host annual fundraising events like “The Annual Summer Gala” which brings together supporters from all walks-of-life including celebrities athletes business leaders philanthropists etc..

Conclusion:

NYJTL is an organization dedicated towards empowering young people through tennis & education by providing them with opportunities they might not otherwise have had access too due lack resources or other barriers . With its innovative approach towards teaching both technical skills along SEL competencies , it’s no wonder why it’s considered one largest grassroots nonprofits countrywide!
