My daughter loves it here! Very quiet place to read, The librarians here are very helpful and kind to us when we come

Very helpful, I visited looking for a witness, who lived on Essex County in the '70s, to my Uncle's will and the NJ reference librarian immediately helped me to track her down in Florida. Librarians are awesome.

I couldn't breathe on that slow elevated. Haven't been clean in months. And the floor haven't be clean with pine. It has no fan, if it stop on you. You would died from the smell. I Can't believe it
a nice library. All it take is water and pine cleaner. The health department need to come in there soon if nothing changes. Summer time is coming going to be hot and smell on there.

I don't think it would be a good place for studying or doing a lot of research though because it is crawling with tourists. The science library on Madison would probably be better for that.

The Jack Higgins books and access to the computer there.

The librarian at the information desk on your right hand side as soon as you enter was very nice. I used to go there since 2012 until 2014. She is very knowledgeable. On the contrary, the people to the other side were not helpful at all and didn t seek to take this job seriously at all.

NEWARK PUBLIC LIBRARY NEEDS TO HAVE TBE FAX MACHINE AT THE DESK WHERE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LIBRARIANS ARE. THE WOMAN TO MY FAX DOCUMENTS TO GHE BACK VERY COURTEOUS THOUGH. BUT ME AS A CUSTOMER WANT TO SEE YOU WHEN YOU FAXING!...I NEVER DEEN THIS AT ANY ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY. BUT I WAS IN THE AREA AND WANTED TO HAVE SOMETHING FAXED TODAY. TRUSTING THE LIBRARIAN WITH MY INFORMATION TODAY DID NOT SIT WELL WITH ME. LESSON LEARNED TODAY. BUT TO THE NEWARK LIBRARY DIRECTORS PLS CHANGE THIS SYSTEM!..AT LEAST BRING THE FAX MACHINE OUT WHERE CUSTOMERS DO THERE OWN FAXING LIKE EADT ORANGE DOES! OR HAVE THE FAXING DONE ON FRONT OF THE CUSTOMER!!PLS CHANGE THIS ASAP!

The library is beautiful inside,especially the columns. Although it is very warm, I still liked it.

The library is great for child teens and young adults. Its not just books in here they have games on Wednesday with Mario Smash Bro not only that but they also have special events like a petting zoo, food drive,etc. They give back to the community and I love feeling right at home here. Everyone is extremely nice.

Why did the library close at 430pm today? No explanation was given either. On Saturdays it closes at 530pm.

Loudest library I ve ever been in. Hard to get work done. People talking on the phone, phones ringing, loud conversations from people and staff. Police officer supposed to be keeping it quiet, is louder than everyone. They don t regulate the noise level in the 3rd floor computer room. Haven t been anywhere else in there yet.

Libraries need more love!! Not everything on the internet is true... Check your facts!!

The building is absolutely beautiful! The Library Associates are the most kind and informative people! I joke and say that NPL thinks it s in Manhattans... so progress and so many free and fun activities... I m an EO resident... np traveling to Newark to just sit in the 1st floor common area to read and love the GLBTQ Center...Great place for the entire family. Both my teenage and I are attending classes and activities.

Best public library in the state of NJ. Great programs each month, and great collection of books.

The staff are not friendly and don't want to help anyone. This may be because of the covid thing but it's not good for the people to be treated like this.

This library is nice, the place is cool from open to close.

Library closes way earlier than schedule listed. Library staff and NPD escorts patrons out of and closes the library 30-45 minutes ahead of scheduled closing time listed constantly

Okaaaa, I see that 5he letter V is used multiple times in the spelling on front of the LIBRARY I like to know the significance of the LIBRARY used of the letter V in their spellings.

This Library is the most Beautiful place they help you they have free programs to help you build resumes in other programs there very polite intelligent make you feel welcome I will recommend anyone there keep up the good work.

Schedule said the library closes 5:30 pm Mondays. Came in at 5:23 pm hoping to get a book only to be turned away by the security guard who said all the employees leave at 5:15pm. What kind of place says it closes at 5:30 but the employees all leave at 5:15?! If they all leave at 5:15 put that it closes at 5:15 and don't waste people's time. Either somebody manages this place with incompetence or the employees are slackers and leave before they're supposed to.

I took a 8 week (every Saturday) Sign Language class there. The instructors were great. However on the 7th Saturday we were told with the last class to bring food (last class party) and certificates would be handed out.
After we assembled and just before we ate, one of the instructors informed us the certificates will be mailed! A bit disappointed to be told one thing and changed without notice.

under appreciated treasure in downtown Newark. Being hammered by budget and staffing problem trying to fulfill its mission in the community. I would recommend that it joins other libraries around the country are attempting to reinvent themselves with new services and oferings
