I have been going to a friend for years. The only problem was that I was treated less like a paying customer and more like a friend who would understand. My first time at Nerger's has made me a customer for life. Mark in service told me everything I needed to know and answered all my questions. I have a secondary car, a 1988 Honda Prelude that I drive in the winter for extended travel reasons. They treated the car with the care of a newer car. My mother-in-law used to use them for everything. I should have listened to her...then again...
GREAT service. Brian went the extra mile to get my Infinity EX35 back on the road in a timely manner. The dealer was not willing to do that. I am not local, but I just might get my service there in the future while I am visiting my daughter. She is glad to now have a dependable service close by.

I've never had such a great experience at an auto mechanic shop. Brian, the owner, personally returned my call to discuss what I needed to get done and suggested I bring the car in just to make sure there were no underlying issues. Adnan, the Service Manager, took the time to explain the issues found and prioritized them in order of importance. Unlike many other auto mechanics, he didn't try to push and have me spend money unnecessarily. Their prices are reasonable, although auto repairs always tend to be pricey -- but I thought the cost was great in comparison to other estimates I had received. I would definitely go back to Nerger's and highly recommend to anyone I know.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience! I've been working on cars and dealing with auto shops for well over 10 years and I have never had as positive experience as I did with Nerger's. It might sound "cliche" but they really do treat you like family. From their pick-up/drop-off service, to their obvious care and pride in their work, you really are getting THE BEST!!!!!! I go back and forth between NJ and NY and I highly recommend them to anyone I know (or even stranger's I hear talking about car trouble, lol).

I can't say enought about Nergers. I couldnt leave work, so they came and picked up my car, then brought it back to me. It still needed work so, they brought me to work and picked me up the next day. Everyone was so nice, and the cost was more than fair for the work I had done. Also, thank you Melissa for being so knowledgeable, it was refreshing.
Everything that sucks about having car trouble is virtually non-existent since I've started coming to Nerger's for repairs and maintenance. All the staff I've ever had to talk to has been courteous, friendly and helpful both on the phone and in person. They do their best to get you back on the road as quickly as possible and I've never had to miss a day of work thanks to their drop-off service. This is not your typical auto shop, in a good way.
Nerger's Auto is the best place around by a long shot. I own a 1999 Ford E250 Van and the check engine light and ABS light has been on for years. I took it to numerous place through the years and no one could figure out or diagnose the problem and said its probably a computer glitch including the FORD DEALER! I was recommended by a friend to try our Nerger's. I asked the sales manager Brian that maybe they could just remove the bulb because I am planning to sell it. Brian was so honest that he considered that to be "dirty" and unethical for the future owner and he would do a variety of tests to diagnose why the "check engine and ABS light" were on. His company ran the tests, found the issue,fixed the same day. and now the check engine light is off and I can sell it easier. Thanks Brian and your crew! I will high recommend you to anyone I know with car issues.
I have taken my car to Nerger's ever since finding out about it. His staff is helpful, friendly, and have gone out of their way to assist me multiple times. The owner, Brian, has picked up my car and personally delivered it back. They will also call and go over any work that has to be done and then give me the rundown when the car is returned. Upon moving into the foreign area of Bridgewater a few weeks ago, I immediately began experiencing what I thought were serious transmission problems in my '98 Honda Accord, which has 200k miles. The hallmarks of transmission issues were present: hyper-sluggish acceleration, various noises under the hood and within the undercarriage, and a rare occurrence of slipping.
These symptoms scared me because I knew they would be expensive to fix. Most worrisome was my unfamiliarity with the area. On top of that, I do not have a good understanding of auto mechanics. Therefore, I set out to read as many reviews as possible about local shops. I was shortly led to Nerger's because the customer responses were overwhelmingly positive.
I immediately drove (slowly) to Nerger's where the owner, Brian, took 30 minutes out of his schedule to drive my car and diagnose what the problems may be. Again, I expected that the issues would be centered on the costly transmission. Instead, Brian promptly allayed some of my concerns by stating that he did not at all think the issues were transmission-related. Like some auto mechanics, he could have easily agreed with me and "fixed" the transmission for a lot of money. To the contrary, Brian listed some possible causes that were less costly to fix.
I was sold on Nerger's right then and there. For an auto mechanic shop owner to turn down an expensive job when the customer expects to open his wallet says so much about the honesty, work ethic, and detail of Brian Nerger's business. When you're a stranger to an area and can fully trust a repair shop, your fears quickly fall by the wayside.
Nerger's then completed a thorough diagnostic check that preceded a quick-but-exemplary repair job that cost less money than I expected. Brian and Stephanie, his daughter, maintained outstanding communication and a cheerful attitude from the moment I walked in the door to the week after my service was completed when I was asked how I and the car were doing. Unsurprisingly, the car is running better than it has in years.
In short, I absolutely cannot give a higher recommendation to an auto mechanic shop than I am giving for Nerger's. If I need anything done to my current or future cars, I know where I'm going.

On the early evening of Monday, February 11, 2013, my car was broken into in front of a church under a bright street light in New Brunswick. The police were called and a report was filed. Early the next morning, I called Nerger s to see if they could fix my broken window on the same day. They told me that they could get it fixed in a few hours. Luckily, we had visitors who just drove into town two days before. They were able to help me drive my grandchildren to their school and pick them up while my car was being repaired. However, their daughter had an eye appointment in the afternoon and I had to get my granddaughter to her ballet class by 5:00 p.m. I called them and told them that I needed my car by 5:00 p.m. Mr. Nerger drove my car himself over to my house in time. I drove him back to the shop and paid my bill. I made it on time to my granddaughter s ballet lesson; however, the job had not been completed due to the rush job. I took my car back the next day to have all the rest of the glass from the broken window cleaned up from the floor of the car and from the cup holders. At first they were a bit confused as to why I was back at Nerger s the next day, but finally they understood and cleaned up my car of the scattered glass right away. They also checked and filled my windshield fluid at no extra cost. I am very thankful that Nerger s was able to repair my car in a very timely manner. Sally Henn Razani

I was referred to Nerger's Auto Care to fix a leak in my transmission. I called to schedule and they were very accommodating and took my car immediately. What made it really work was their father was there to drive me back to my house when I dropped my car off. It was a pleasure talking with him on the way to my house. They diagnosed my car and called me to explain in detail what they discovered on my car and the work was completed that day. They seemed very honest and straightforward explaining the issues and the impacts. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a honest/personal repair shop that stands by their work. I will definitely use them again in the future
A few Saturdays ago my daughter's car broke down on her way to work... She called to see who I could suggest it be towed to. We do not live in the same area and I wanted a garage closer to her home..., then I remembered Nerger's Auto Express. I had dealt with them a few years ago and had been very satisfied. There was someone there to accept the car until we could be contacted on Monday. It turned out to be such a positive experience. Every person we dealt with was pleasant and helpful. It had a lot wrong with it and several issues were safety issues.. but the service manager contacted us step by step carefully explaining their findings.. some instances were unusual circumstances do to a prior hit and run that required out of the box thinking and they found solutions....they also had a connection where she could rent a car at a reasonable amount within walking distance. I had not used them in a while due to distance but this experience recalled my positives past experiences and it was so nice to see they were still the same friendly, professional, experienced business I remembered from years ago..For a decision that had to be made in haste, while waiting for AAA we got lucky...this was the very best decision we could have made.
I've posted before about how happy we are with Nerger's Auto Express, and I continue to be very happy. Brian and his team are HONEST, FAIR and DEPENDABLE. Oh yeah, really nice people you can TALK to!

I visited Nergers yesterday for a pre-inspection oil change. I found the staff to be very hospitable and helpful. It did feel like a family experience. They pointed out some potential problems with my truck, but there was no pressure to take action immediately. I feel that finding a good, reliable mechanic is like finding a doctor or dentist that you are comfortable with. I will remain a customer.

This group is excellent! ! Not only did they give superior customer service, they also were very respectful to my children which I have 5!! The work that was done on my van was 100% done not only in a timely manner but everything was fixed and my van runs like it's brand new!! It was such a pleasant experience going to Nerger's Auto Express for the first time that I recommended the auto repair place to the company I work for. They not only took care of the issue that I came in for but they also showed me what other items that the vehicle needed attending to. They even broke down the cost and helped me prioritize the items that needed repair.
The fact that they will bring me to work when the car is dropped off and pick me up at work when the car is completed enables me not to miss a work day. This is such an appreciated added value that other auto repair shops does not offer.
They were even kind enough to take pictures of items that were needed to be repaired so I can send it to my husband to review. It is all the extra care and consideration that they have for their customers, along with their expertise that keeps the employees of the company I work for and me coming back to them for any and all repairs.
Every time I visit Nerger's, I'm impressed by the courteous service like I've been a "friend" for years. I appreciate the detailed explanation of what's being done to my car and what to consider for the future. I recently had transmission work done and must say my car is running so much better, shifting gears nice & smooth. I've always been pleased with the service at Nerger's. November, 2013 Honestly, I've been driving and dealing with car issues for over 45 years and have obviously been to a number of different auto mechanics in my lifetime. This is by far the best place I have ever been to. EVERYONE at Nerger's is super honest, pleasant and helpful. I had a very small window to be able to get my car serviced this week but they came through. Even picked me up at 6:30 in the morning so that I could get my car and make it to another appointment. No hastle, just superior service with a smile. And no rip-offs!!! Here's the kicker...I had written a nice review and figured that was why they were treating me so well. Come to find out, they didn't even know about my review! They just treated me so well because that's what they do, consistently, to everone! I highly recommend Nerger's Auto Express.
August, 2012 Back to Nerger's today to have my car serviced. I cannot say enough about this place! OK, getting your car repaired can be financially traumatic but EVERYONE at Nerger's makes the experience as pleasant as it can possibly be. Talk about customer service! I called on Thursday for a 'check engine soon' alert expecting to get an appointment for next week. Why not tomorrow, Mark says. Wow. And my car is ready ON TIME, as requested!! AND they brought me to work and will pick me up. Makes me feel like a queen. Oh, one more thing. My nephew brought his car to Nergers and the bill was half what was quoted to him by another mechanic. Pretty good, I'd say.
December, 2011 This was my first time at Nerger's having been referred by a neighbor some time ago. Brian honored the referral discount even though it was probably over a year old. I found out that the person who referred me will now get a discount. I thought that was pretty good. While I was waiting for my car (by the way, the couch was comfortable and there are pleanty of seats right there in the storeroom), I saw and heard several satisfied long-term customers coming in to drop off their cars. Brian was very pleasant and helpful. Although I didn't need a ride to work today, I found out that they do provide this service when needed. They also can rent me a car, if i want. The best news came when my car was ready...it was in good shape and didn't need any other service at this time. In other words, he didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. I will need struts in the near future and Brian will call me in the spring to schedule. I was very impressed with the courteous service and would recommend Nerger's to anyone.
Our car always gets a safety check when we bring it in for routine services so problems are usually found before the car is stuck somewhere. We can trust Nerger's Auto Care to do a good job and to explain what they did and why. We get online reminders of services needed. I have always been offered a ride home though I have rarely needed one.
I must say I am always skeptical of used car dealerships but not this one! I stopped in to check out a 2003 Nissan 350z. From the minute I walked in I was given honest responses. I had already gotten approved by a financial company before I had come by. The sales manager Daniel helped me from start to finish. When it came time to sign off on the vehicle my financial company decided to bail and declined the loan right then and there. So i put a deposit on the vehicle just to buy me more time to try and find another way to buy this car. Well, to my surprise, Daniel had called up and told me that he had been working all day to find me a car loan and he did! No other dealership would go out of their way to get someone a loan in this situation. Daniel is an outstanding guy who deserves all the credit he can get. It is really nice to know that there are still good people out there like Daniel. I highly recommend purchasing vehicles from Nerger's auto

I had my front brake pads and rotors replaced here, costed me around $375+tax, for our 2007 honda accord hybrid.
The service is reliable so far. Staff are friendly and reasonable. Price makes sense (if only even cheaper) They also fixed my bumper dent for free, but they don't do paint.
They checked my car twice before, small problems, with no charge.
I had my car tires replaced at Nergers auto for a very reasonable price and good quality of work. Seems like a honest and family business maintained professionally.

Took my car in on short notice after both headlights went out in the same day. I was seen immediately right as they opened and my vehicle was up and running in 20 min; they even topped off the fluids and checked tire pressure as a courtesy. Great experience and I highly recommend this auto shop.

23 year customer! We just bought the 8th car that will be serviced by Brian and his team - I can trust them to do what is needed and give me choices when something is optional. Recently took my car for a muffler exhaust issue. back pipe snapped off the rear connecting to the muffler tank. Staff was friendly , they even showed me underneath my car the problems it actually had. My concern was they recommended an entire exhaust system change but since i was on a budget it could not be done.. honestly ive had an entire exhaust system done at a shop for alittle under $400 and lasted me close to 4 years. when nergers told me $1000+ for an exhaust system repair . I was a bit turned off and didnt feel like that was too honest . The Pickup service Nergers provided was great when needed to go to work/home etc. . But when I got the car back I was expecting a bit more better results... my check engine light was still on and the muffler wasnt replaced it was just repaired and put back together I was hoping they would've changed the muffler and the pipe with new parts . Nergers did simple repairs that would temporarily last on my car. Bottom line for the price I paid I felt i was a bit ripped off and could've done a few things better.. I dont think I will be going back.
Nergers isnt messing around!!! I have 3 cars serviced here and they absolutely know what they are talking about. Ive had oil changes to major services and they do not disappoint. Friendly customer service but most importantly experienced, knowledgable staff and mechanics.
Some of the best customer service I've experienced at an auto shop. They went out of their way to help me find an affordable solution to a seized up a/c compressor during a difficult financial time. It seems like their mechanical expertise is about average, though -- the failing a/c compressor could have been diagnosed before seizing (I had brought my car in a few weeks earlier due to the noise). That said, the repair service isn't anything less than I would expect anywhere else, and the customer service will keep me a returning customer.
When my 2006 Nissan Xterra, needed repair, I took it to Nerger's on the recommendation of a friend. Best decision I ever made, The repair was an unusual one, and the part was difficult to locate. Brian and Mark went above and beyond the call of duty in their efforts to find the part, get it to New Jersey and get the repair done. They took care of all the negotiations with my warranty company and jumped through every hoop the company required to get the maximum reimbursement for me. The repair was correctly made and the truck ran perfectly when I picked it up. (Thanks very much to the mechanic, whose name I am embarrassed to say I did not ask.) All this was done in the friendliest, most courteous and professional way. Nerger's is now my repair shop of choice. If I could give a rating higher than excellent, I would.
Wow wow wow!!! Where to begin. Hands down the BEST auto service I've ever received.
I've had a few major issues since my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited reached the 80k mile mark, including the dreaded "death wobble," brake repair, axle resealing, the regular maintenance, etc. Brian and his team have been there throughout to not only keep me sane through the process, but to make sure all repairs were done RIGHT. I cannot stress that enough. For example: -the issue with the "death wobble" is awful and often takes repair to multiple parts of a jeep to resolve. Knowing this, Brian took extra notice to my jeep, even offering to drive the jeep home overnight to make sure it was "road worthy." -Needing an extra part not available in the local area, Brian sent his father on a mission to track down the part to ensure I could take my jeep home on a day I desperately needed it -Brian and his team are extremely transparent with repairs. He sends a list of recommended repairs and will even communicate via text if necessary on days when I couldn't step out of a meeting.
Just some examples of how great a place Brian and his team have made Nerger's. I'll continue to use them in the future and am always confident he can find the best solution to fix my jeep. Thanks, Brian!

I needed to have the cabin filter changed on my 2012 Honda Accord. Both the dealership and a local muffler chain shop wanted almost $80.00 with tax. Brian got me out in 20 minutes for less than $50 (tax included). Furthermore, I was treated like a V.I.P., and I was listened to both on the phone and in person. That's so important to me. Brian and the entire Nerger's staff has won me over.
Brian Nerger and his crew are courteous, respectful and knowledgeable about automotive preventative maintenance and repairs. They know how to correctly diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair any issue. Truthfully, I am an automotive technician by trade and I can repair all of my vehicles myself. However, I work long hours and rather spend my time off with my family. Nerger's Auto Express provides me with a fair quote and gets the scope of work performed correctly so they will continue to receive work from the six vehicles that I own not to mention referrals from the over 1500 vehicles that my shop sees a month getting routine preventative maintenance who are in need of automotive repair. Brian, his wife (Michelle), his dad and the entire crew are honest, comptent, fair, great at what they do, and bestvof all they won't rip you off... We had brought our Lincoln to Pep Boys, who quoted $1,000 to fix our Lincoln's Power Steering Pump. After lifting our jaws off the floor, we asked around and was referred to Nerger's for high quality maintenance at a fair price. Imagine our surprise when Nerger's mechanics told us that our Power Steering Pump was perfectly fine, and that the real issue was a compressor! Adnan and team really went above and beyond to properly diagnose our issue, find competitive rates for parts, and get our Lincoln back on the road quickly. I highly recommend Nerger's Auto for all repairs!
Nerger's is very friendly and proactive. I've taken three different cars there and have had a good experience with all of them. The owner, Brian, has followed up with me about my experiences and made sure I was satisfied with the service. It's a unique and worthwhile place to take your car. My experiences with Nerger Auto Care have been exceptional. The people there are great, they treat you like family! Melissa and Adenon will do everything they can to make sure you leave happy. The owner Brian is also a fun guy to talk to if you have the time. They have a free standard 40 point diagnosis for every car that they work on which I love because paying a diagnosis fee is slightly annoying. The mechanics are experienced and will explain to you in detail what the problem with your car is. When you go here you receive excellent customer service. There are no shenanigans that go on here. I recommend this shop to anyone experiencing car problems.

I live in Edison but I take the drive to go here cause they re a place where they don t make you feel like you NEED to fix something right away if you don t need to. Hello, I am so grateful to finally have the time to be able to write a full review of Nerger's Auto Express. I have never in my entire life, (44 years and counting) have ever seen a auto repair shop that provides more customer service than Nerger's. They just don't treat you like a customer, they treat you like family, like gold. Brian is a phenomenal service provider and he is more thorugh than anyone i have ever seen. His staff, and I mean his entire staff is just an absolute delight. The mechanics are top notch, financing services are available and they even provide transportation to pick either your car or you if you need a ride. I just can't imagine going anywhere else to get my car serviced. God bless you all.
I was referred to Nerger's Auto Express by a friend that I trust. He told me that Brian Nerger, and his auto repair shop, was someone that I could trust. I brought my car there because this morning, while trying to get my minivan out of a parking spot surrounded by deep snow I did something to cause the tail pipe to be hanging down in a not normal way. I was hoping that the problem was going to be fixed by a $30 bracket. Adnan, the Service Manager, brought me out to the car on the lift to show me that there was much more damage to the muffler and the pipe that connects it to the tail pipe. I was going to need to replace everything form the muffler back. Adnan gave me a very fair price with parts and labor, and gave me an extra discount because I was referred by a friend. I felt extremely well taken care of by all the people that work at Nerger's. Most importantly, I feel that I was dealt with honestly. There is nothing like having a car mechanic that you can trust to be honest with you. I have driven 60 miles before to go to my old mechanic after moving, just because I knew I could trust him to tell me what I really needed to fix on my car. This is my first time coming to Nerger's. I will be coming back and telling my friends to go there.
Thanks to the crew at Nerger's did a great job with service and were upfront and honest about the work they were doing. They put aside another job to get my car taken care of that day and did the work on time as promised. Had a question about the car the next day and the mechanic who worked on the car came with me for a test drive and even showed me the older part that was very worn and would have likely caused MORE problems if they didn't fix it. I have been going to Nerger s Auto Express for one year now and every visit has been very good experience. In fact, they have exceeded my expectations every time. They have serviced my car from a flat tire to a normal oil change and everything in between. I especially love their pick-up and drop-off service. I work in Bridgewater so they pick up my car and drop it off before 4pm (in time for me to pick up my kids). If they can t pick up my car they will drop me off and pick me up (once my car is finish), which I don t mind because I enjoy my conversation with Brian s dad! All in all, Nerger s Auto Express is a family run business and they make me feel like I matter and that I am not just another number (if that makes any sense).
Do not go to nergers auto... they will try and pull the wool over your eyes and do it by seeming honest. Do not let them fool you into buying their "BG" products and fluid changes. This place has gone downhill and has become VERY pricey. Expect to open your wallet nice and wide for Mr. Nerger and his crew!!!
I appreciated the total review and list of all the issues my car had. I usually get this extra service at the dealer and was more than happy Nerger's Auto is now looking at all my potential car issues. Unlike the dealer I really appreciated that they did not pressure me to fix them all now!
This is my first time having my car serviced at this location. The reason I chose it was based on the reviews on Google+. My experience is excellent. The store manager gave me details on the repair items so I was able to make a decision on what to replace/repair. They're good people.
I just recently had my car serviced during the covid 19 situation . Response time and service was very good and professional. I ve been going to Nergers for several years for both of my cars. However, this time- for the service that was completed, I felt that the price was extremely high. May have to think twice about going back again.
Great experience here. I brought my car to them twice, once just for an inspection, and once for an engine mount replacement. Both times they've done a really thorough job and gave me a breakdown on my car's overall condition. When I needed to budget repairs, they created a schedule to help me prioritize what needed to be fixed over several weeks.
ALSO, they gave me a free new tire when they discovered a leak after a road test - since they didn't know if it was caused by me or them, they swallowed the cost. I was all the more impressed with their honesty because it was a slow leak that I wouldn't have caught for a while. Even if I had, I wouldn't have thought to blame them, as the road where I live is strewn with nails and bolts and leaks are pretty common. I really appreciated the level of service they gave me.
They will use your car as a loaner car. If you bring your car in for repair, or worse yet on consignment, they will allow their people to drive it around under the guise of a 'road test'. These people put over 80 miles on my car without my permission...which is far more than anyone would need to test something. This place is a giant, fraudulent scam-shop.
So pleased with the service level received! Took my car to Nerger s for an unexpected repair and they took my VW immediately without an appointment. No problem! Fast, friendly and convenient. The people at Nerger's Auto Express are very good at finding out what is wrong with our cars and then fixing the problem. I am always offered a ride home. For extensive repairs recently, I was offered a rental car at their expense. Also the exact problem was shown to me and explained in terms I could understand. Whenever a problem has suddenly developed, I have been invited to bring the car right in. As a result of their care, we have only once had a breakdown on the road in the last fifteen years. We have been satisfied customers for that long.
Came across "Nerger's" on Google. I have an old Jimmy that was having break problems. First mechanic told us we had to replace the whole ABS computer and who knows how many hundreds I would have had to pay for that so looking for a second opinion I took it to Nerger's. I was treated with much care and kindness and they did everything they could to help me save money on the repair. (Which did not require a total ABS replacement)
The team at Nerger's Auto Express is wonderful. They installed a bicycle hitch to my wife's new Subaru Outback. It was my first visit and the reviews are true. They were knowledgeable, courteous and professional. The final cost was under the price initially quoted. Adnan and Brian provided me with a desk to remotely work with my laptop during the day as I was waiting for the installation to be completed. A nice clean job. It is fair to say that I will be a returning customer for my other automotive needs. Thanks guys.
I've been coming to Nerger's for about 1.5 years and it's been a great experience. When my check engine light came on last year, Nerger's replace my exhaust system quickly and was more than happy to give me a ride to the shop to get the car back. When the check engine light came on AGAIN 2 days later, they looked over the issue and quickly did some additional repairs at no charge that ended the problem. I like the fact they always prioritize the things that need to be repaired on the car. I've never seen an owner more accessible than Brian Nerger, and if you ask for him, he's always very happy to come out and make sure your stay is great. When I needed someone to look at my car quickly over lunch today, instead of dropping it off and waiting hours for a tech to look it over, Brian immediately went on a test drive with me, and the rattling problem was fixed in 30 minutes.
