Uppsala is the site of the oldest university in Scandinavia, Uppsala University, and the tallest church in the Nordic countries, Uppsala Cathedral. This short trip was a lovely way to end my time in Sweden. Travel tip: Although it is just 20 mins away from the Arlanda Airport, it is actually more expensive if you're coming from and dropping off at the airport since aside from the train fare, there is a special passage fee of 240 sek (120 sek per way). So I suggest going there on a different date than your flight. Or just take the bus from Arlanda to Uppsala so you don't gave to pay the passage fee. Travel time by bus is 40 mins.

Beautiful and expansive campus for a slow and pleasant walk. The campus map on the street was of little help to tourists tho, (its written in Swedish, and they seem to have more than one department, distributed across a large land spaced with dorms and graveyards. Each map only depicts one such department).

Uppsala University is the oldest of Sweden, founded in 1477. It has spawned no less than eight Nobel prize winners (of course advantaged a bit by being close to the fire). And also one of the most eminent scientists of all times, Anders Celsius (often misspelled as Celcius) - who worked there long before the Nobel prize was instated. I had the pleasure once of visiting and shaking hands with prof. Kai Siegbahn, who won the Nobel prize in physics for his work on electron spectroscopy. Remarkably his father Manne also was a Nobel laureate of Uppsala.

Dumpster diving or skipping; collecting food that is perfectly edible, but gets thrown away by supermarkets. Hitch hiking; saved me a lot of transport costs, and gave me incredibly wonderful opportunities to meet locals, to practice the language of my host country, to get to know perspectives of Swedes about their own country/region/lifestyle/choices/worldview. Flea markets; same as for hitch hiking, and cheap, beautiful second hand treasures --> high cultural values ! Local gardening initiatives, such as community gardens; same as the above Clothes swapping Local collective cooking initiatives; local food cooperative Local yoga, arts, theatre initiatives For all of the above, there are Facebook groups/websites; but they were mainly in Swedish. It would be cool if there were little informal events where local people could explain how to live in an alternative, ecological way; without having to buy everything anew and than leave all this stuff anyway when they depart. IMPORTANT REMARK: it would be fantastic if there was more effort from international student associations and/or host university to gather and redistribute the STUFF that international students buy and throw away when they leave. It is hallucinant to see how much perfectly usable stuff gets thrown away, just because people can not take everything home. This could be approached in a very creative way; to make it easy, attractive and accessible for students to bring their stuff to a place when they leave. This could massively decrease the ecological and social impact of exchange students!

One mr.ashok swain has posted a derogatory tweet on Former Indian minister of foreign affairs.
The post is in bad taste as it demeans a person who has just passed away.
Being a person of high repute and being highly educated, it is sad to see such a disreputable comment on a persons death.
And he is part of ur faculty.

If you are considering the Faculty of Pharmacy and want to study abroad for a few semesters, choose a university other than UU. My degree has been delayed around 1.5 years due to right. The education itself at UU's pharmaceutical faculty maintains mediocre quality.

Admission department is a joke and everyone is pushing the blame to someone else. Whoever that is recruiting is incapable of reading or understanding that Advanced Econometrics is the study of statistics therefore telling me I am unqualified because I don't have enough credits for statistics. You have to come out with a better excuse for your racism Uppsala University. I thought it was a reputable University and now I am glad I am not going there

Lives on the rumor. Political indoctrination and "gender equality work" take precedence over actual teaching at all levels. Outdated teaching methods and total focus on theory and history rather than expertise and practical application, also in courses in, for example, web production or communication.

Inside year 2, grumpy disappointed, hope the remaining 2 years get better.

I have friends who attended here. It is said to be reputably exceptional and of that I have no doubt. For those curious as to a bunker down visit, the university boasts glorious views of classical Swedish architecture that is as dazzling as it is refreshing in today's day and age.
There are many features to the University. At once postmodern in style, it still preserves age worn buildings and grounds. The botanical gardens are equisite and one of the landmarks to see. The Uppsala Cathedral is nearby and gives staggering views of campus.
The university has it's own charm and students are very much kind, and from all over the world. I think visiting the university grounds and even interiors is a must for those not from the area and/or those interested in attending this prestigious institution. If you live local, certainly it's a great idea to visit the campus and stroll by simply for the elegant beauty alone. Students and staff are quite friendly and welcoming. In closing, friends who've graduated here have told me that their academic experience was by and large enormously productive and readied them for the work force. Thumbs up!
