Our History

Mount Pleasant Borough was founded in 1797 by Samuel Jackson as "Jackson's Town." The town was renamed "Mount Pleasant" in 1803 due to its scenic location on the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Throughout its history, Mount Pleasant has been an important center for agriculture and industry. In the early 20th century, it became known as the "Glass Capital of America" due to its many glass factories.
