The experience I had at this place was very poor, we had booked for 7 and started first eating at 8, the Japanese "chef salad" consisted of iceberg salad, cucumber tomato carrot and thousand Island dressing.. the main course itself was fine, the experience was good but the food was very basic. Overall, would not go here agson

The show cooking is great, sadly it is at the cost of flavour. They literally burn the oil they cooking on which is very unhealthy. The amount of oil used also means that everything cooked is very fatty and because everything is cooked the same all the flavours blend and everything in your plate taste the same Webster it's the rice veg or fish.
In short, great to impress for a birthday party not so good if you want to enjoy your food.
Ps. The show cooking is very loud and with 3-4 of them going on at the same time it is loud.

Where showmanship and art meets delicious food!
This restaurant is such an incredible experience with staff who ensure you are enjoying your time by looking after you from start to finish. If you're in the area then you simply have to try it!
Not sure what to go for? The set menus are a great place to start or ask the staff for suggestions as they're more than happy to tell you more about the dishes.

Fantastic audience participation entertainment and amazing food. The teppanyaki chefs have a well practiced but still entertaining routine (we visit only once a year). The set teppanyaki menus are really good value and there is a good choice of meats and fish but only one vegetarian option. Good to go with a group that of friends or work colleagues or make new friends with your fellow diners.

Wow. Just wow. I think I'm missing an eyebrow (sorry, no spoilers) This place is an eating event worthy of your patronage. You won't be disappointed by the service, the cooking style, the food itself or any moment in between. It's located in a very convenient place (The Arcadian) for nearby night attractions like The Glee Club, Hippodrome and Alexandra Theatre; or local nightclubs and nearby Casino! Worth choosing to start your night on the town with flamboyant exuberance.

What an amazing place. This is more than a restaurant, it's a great experience. I ordered from the set menu which had 5 items. Starts are served to you from the kitchen and then your main course is cooked by the teppanyaki chef in front of you. Our chef was great, he got us all at the table involved and was cracking jokes and very friendly. It's not the cheapest place, but you get the entertainment aspect of it so I still think it's worth the money.

When you enter the restaurant the staff are unfriendly.
I was not happy with my experience overall.
The teppanyaki had too much soy sauce which made it salty and the meat, rice & veg started blending in.
I honestly couldn't finish my food as the meat was very chewy to eat instead of being tender.

Good entertainment and atmosphere, average tasting food and terrible customer service. We felt extremely rushed, the staff basically didn't let us finish our plates and felt really intimidated being asked every 5 seconds if we like to order something else. At the end they even forgot the dessert. NOT worth the money, way overpriced!

We booked a table here for my Birthday and wrote down in my diary the time we had booked (6.30) We have to travel 40 miles to Birmingham and my wife was working til 5 so we all agreed that 6.30 would be the earliest we could get there. On arrival to Birmingham we hit a lot of traffic in digbeth and it looked like we might be 10mins late so we rang this place up to advise them only to be told that we did not have a table booked as they don't take bookings at 6.30 only 6 or 7! We knew straght away this was rubbish and that it was a mistake on there part and tried to explane our situation... we found the lady rather rude and very unhelpful on the phone! My daughter spoke to her in the 1st call and the lady hung up on her! I called back and she denied hanging up! I've never been so upset on my Birthday as I was last night and was made to feel like this was our fault! We have been here before and have enjoyed it... but now we don't want to take the chance these people will mis manage our next special event.

Came here to celebrate new years. Was the worst experience of a restaurant that myself and my partner had. Firstly, the waitresses weren't very friendly. Sake was served in a wine glass which is the wrong container and the food was not fresh tasting and undercooked. The gaps between receiving food took too long, it was too cold inside and the bright lights shining into our faces was uncomfortable. Took ages for teppan chef to turn up and when he started his tricks I got splattered with boiling hot soy sauce on my bare arm and onto our nice expensive clothing.

Your establishment seems to attract a certain type of basic person in dire need of entertainment, the type of folk who are unkind to alternative people looking for an experience, such as our selves. We poorly misjudged your restaurant thinking it could be interesting. They made us feel ubcomfortable for having vegan food which understandably had to be cooked first in order to avoid cross contamination with corpse remnants. Having lived in Japan for over a year I can confirm that the flavours of food and the whole etiquette was sub par and frankly offensive to Japanese cuisine and culture. The garlic was burned and when the chef cracked an egg I once again was splattered with boiling hot liquid which went directly into my eye. At this point we walked out without paying for the measly food we had already consumed.
Our nice clothes stank of cooking due to poor ventilation and there wasn't even any gentle music playing to create an atmosphere. No leg room for tall people and the chairs were wholly unconfortable. Truly this restaurant is a gimic executed poorly by those who do not understand the subtle art of Japanese food.
I would not go here again even if you gave me 100 quid in free vouchers and I will actively be diasuading anyone from visiting your establishment.
Wish I could give half a star.

We loved it hear!

The chefs cook the food right in front of you, and put on a great show whilst doing so too! They're fantastic and the food amazing

The staff were really kind and helpful upon arrival and during our time here.

Fully recommend!

Great food, amazing atmosphere, and lovely staff. My companion and I were seated quickly and the waiting time between our order being taken and our meals/drinks arriving was more than reasonable.

I'd recommend Miyako Teppanyaki for more or less any occasion; be it a random weekend meal or a special occasion.

Pleasant evening. There is some novelty at this restaurant, the food is prepared in front of you and the chefs encourage interaction whilst cooking the food.

Quality of food is good but not exceptional. Marks only dropped for lack of efficiency from the staff.

Decided to go there with my SO as we're both massively into Japanese food and especially Tapenyaki. We had pre-booked a table for two and
upon arrival we were led to our table. Two minutes later, the waitress came over asking for our name again as we weren't on their system and to see if we're not at the wrong restaurant. Gf and I ended up leaving the restaurant before even having placed an order as we were made to feel really unwelcome. I'm sure the food would have been lovely and it was a shame we had to miss out on Tapenyaki.

My colleagues and I were at a loss for somewhere to eat so we headed for the Chinese Quarter and stumbled across this little gem.

The food was only surpassed by the skill, artistry and entertainment provided by the chefs at the Teppan! This is a must eat at restaurant if you're in Birmingham and I will definitely be back!
