Mission Graduates: Empowering San Francisco's Youth for a Brighter Future
Mission Graduates is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the San Francisco community since 1972. The organization's mission is to increase the number of K-12 students in San Francisco who are prepared for and complete a college education. Mission Graduates believes that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status.
The organization offers various programs and services to help students achieve academic success, including after-school programs, tutoring, mentoring, college readiness workshops, and scholarships. These programs are designed to provide students with the support they need to succeed academically and pursue higher education.
One of Mission Graduates' flagship programs is its after-school program. This program provides a safe and supportive environment for students to learn and grow outside of school hours. Students receive homework assistance from trained tutors, participate in enrichment activities such as art classes and sports teams, and have access to healthy snacks.
In addition to its after-school program, Mission Graduates also offers one-on-one tutoring services for students who need extra academic support. These tutoring sessions are tailored to each student's individual needs and can be conducted in-person or online.
Another key component of Mission Graduates' work is its college readiness workshops. These workshops provide high school students with the tools they need to navigate the college application process successfully. Students learn about financial aid options, how to write compelling personal statements, how to choose the right college for them based on their interests and goals.
Mission Graduates also provides scholarships for graduating high school seniors who plan on attending college or vocational school. These scholarships help alleviate some of the financial burden associated with pursuing higher education.
Overall, Mission Graduates' work has had a significant impact on San Francisco's youth over the years.
